I bought these back before Gary Eckert (I think that was his name) passed away.  They were supposed to be longer lasting than the Honda rubber dampers as these were made of Neoprene.  I honestly don't remember when I put them in but it has been a few years.  I had been noticing extra slop on acceleration and braking.  Decided I had better have a look.  This is what I found.  They are just disintegrating.  So if you also bought some of the neoprene dampers from Gary you might want to have a look at them.  I ordered dampers from two different suppliers today just to make sure I got some.  If both sets come in I will have an extra set if someone needs them for what I paid for them.

He had a problem with the compound for those, a lot of them have went the same route.  Tundra had a set do the same.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Yup, me too only worse. Mine just disintegrated. The largest part left was maybe the size of a pencil eraser, just little broken chunks. Another local Valkyrie rider near me had the same issue. I replaced with Honda OEM.
Thanks for posting Terry, maybe can save someone else.

Strangely enough, I had mine in for 6-7 yrs. and they never did that. I replaced them with OEM about a year ago, I must have got a good set after that first run that gave problems.

I would like to give a pat on the back to partzilla.com.  I ordered the dampers at about 4 pm. on Wednesday and UPS delivered them at around the same time on Thursday.  Looks like they were shipped from Albany Ga. The second set that I ordered from another company were shipped Friday by the post office and remains to be seen when they get here.  I did pay an extra $3 to get them shipped UPS ground by partzilla.com.  Maybe I should see if they fit first but they look correct.

Not good......
Warning for Pappy, I installed a set of those dampers back at 100,000 miles on the Red & White.  Shocked

If you haven't checked them already might want to do so.  Wink

No big deal. Can change them out.
Terry - if you do not want the second set let me know.
The red and white should be good to go until we get together. It is quiet as a mouse accelerating and decelerating.

Casey if they are both the same when the second set gets here I'll put your name on them.  No reason why they shouldn't.  I should know something in a few days.
