Prgoblem Installing New Exhaust
«

I'm trying to put my new exhaust on and ran into a problem with the left side exhaust. The rear hanger bolts seem to be about a half a hole off to fit in the bracket. I've tried putting them in before hooking up the front but then I can't get the exhaust on the bolts coming from the motor. I've had it in and out several times and I'm not getting anywhere. The right side went on easy like it should. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Harv, have you tried loosening the 2 bolts that hold the passenger peg/exhaust hanger to the frame?
That may give you enough wiggle room to get the bolts through. It has to fit.

I had to loosen the footpeg plate all the way, attach it to the exhaust, then reattach the plate. I applied some force to the plate to get it to line up, and I found that it is easier to put in some bolts before the others. Sorry, I can't remember which order worked best.

Thanks everyone for your help. The pipes are on and sound good. Unfortunately I broke a tap off in a hole I was re threading in order to re mount the crash bars! I started another topic for that problem. I'm just sick about it but hopefully I can fix it or have it fixed. I'm leaning toward finding a machinist to get it repaired.
