What is the matter with this site?
Some of us have been bit by Facebook and got a lot of information hacked.
I dumped Facebook shortly after that and have not looked back.
I'll stay here thank you.

Why Facebook, because pictures. Easier to integrate pictures and discussion. Both have their place. I don't put anything there that I care if someone mines.

It is trivial to put pictures here... and facebook will never host any Valkyrie ride-ins...

I would not discourage anyone for starting a FB page with the 1800c as its main focus. I started one as well however decided not to advertise it here and I, in no way wanted to distract from the VRCC board that I frequent 98% more than FB. I wanted to see if it would be found on its own. Moreover if it was found I wanted to point to the VRCC board. I have PLENTY of dislikes about FB and not the greatest fan however there is some really great pictures and conversation from all over the globe with the 97.03 1500s groups that I would never had seen. Lots of Europe stuff. How can we get the word out about the VRCC board? Well FB for sure for those that are on it and if it had a grass roots group it would be more interesting. The VRCC Board is just that, VRCC, that is what I like about it and I would love to see it grow with more 1800c owners. Maybe the VRCC moderators can have a group page and point to VRCC.com? just my musings.

"Yeeah... about this ride in.. We've set up a small card table in a garage behind the building for anyone on a '14 on newer Valk. Seems your bikes upset the 1500 riders... I dunno, something about radiator pods... Just lay low and try not to be seen."

Why don't you add it to Tweeter and a couple 3 more places?
We have a person who overlooks all of our VRCC sites and we even have a contract with the people who maintain the monitors, servers and etc.
I hope you can make it harder for us to get service and see and do things.
How about keeping it all in one site where we know who to hammer if it goes down.
I know you think adding pictures is easier and all of that, but if you'd try to add a picture and learn how on our site in my thinking it is a lot easier. I was also butchered by a party from over in Asia and it took me about 3 months to get it straightened out. I was not HAPPY, so I figured stick Facebook up someones ARSE and move on. I killed my membership on Facebook and killed all of my intrusions and haven't had a interruption on my Computer since.

Not Twitter.. but just because it sucks... maybe Instagram and Google Groups though. Additional social medium doesn't hurt this forum; it's the bad treatment of new Valk riders. Seriously. We're posting on a tech forum because of how nasty the general forum has been. So much so that I warn new riders and those interested in this bike to disregard the terrible online community. When I got my VTX in '08, the model family and forums were 5 years old or so. 2 great groups, tons of resources, accessories, tips, mods, pictures, videos.. it was awesome. You didn't see 1800 riders beefing about the 13's single crank pins or carburation. And 1300 riders weren't talking trash about wonky exhaust notes and how fewer their numbers were. We all loved to ride, turn wrenches, and share stories of both. Right now for new Valk owners, we have a ghost forum, or a sub-forum on a board with no short supply of trolling, angry, butt-hurt marys on 20 yr. old rides talking crap about bikes they've never ridden. "I'd never buy a new bike without a 6th gear!" "Why would Honda put the radiators up there.. That looks stupid!" "It's needs more metal on it." Honda's only real misstep with this bike was in nomenclature. The 2014-15 Goldwing Maria GL1800CE Consuela Valkyrie Isabella F6C well that and not firing Hideo Hurtatushi who designs their seats. Never seen so much hate though, especially within the same brand and nameplate. It's shameful. Where this sub group evolves to, who knows. Off the hip, I'm guessing it won't be here. Until then.

Don't you think Hal is everywhere anyway.
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it. Dave Bowman: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL. HAL: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen. Dave Bowman: [feigning ignorance] Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL? HAL: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move. Dave Bowman: Alright, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock. HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult. Dave Bowman: HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
HAL: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye

i knew a girl that said she would not date bikers because .... she says," there to immature" Usually you can read that as "I won't date bikers because they don't make me their absolute center to attention. I have competition, and it's with a damm MOTORCYCLE!" There, fixed it for her! hummmm, valkyrie 1500 dont like valkyrie 1800. Harleys dont like any other..... i hope all that foolish stops here! ya i know thats wishful thinking...... i guess i dont belong to any group because of foolishness like that. we're all in this together
I know, right? Some Harley guys hate sport riders (all of them, for no purpose) and some sport riders hate Harley guys (and then deny that they are just like them). If a guy is a jerk then he'll be a jerk on a Harley or a GSX-R, doesn't make a difference. I sometimes ride with several Harley guys and they are salt-of-the-earth types, we are a mixed group with everything from an old BMW airhead to a Ninja 650. Then again another group, that I refuse to ride with any more, has a leader with a S1000RR who passes trucks on local roads by going over the double yellow...and then expects "his" group to follow and do the same.

I like the fb forum... especially the ability to post multiple pics from my phone. I don't trust fb, but I also don't trust bb's and photo-hosting sites. Never had a "virus" from any of them... but I'm pretty cautious about what I click on as well. Nice to have a troll-free zone also... without having to hide on a sub-forum to avoid the nastiness from the main board. "where's 6th gear "looks like a gd BMW "if it's not fifteen years old, I'm not interested... yeah, I like eating at Subway. Why do you ask?"

Is there anyway we can toss water on this? We 1800 valksters are low in number and this might be driving some away rather than helping each other figure how to deck this ride out. Can't we just let some who want both FB and VRCC have that option? How about a kumbayah moment here? It was slowly sinking under newer threads and now here it is again.

I'll just say this from experience: the moment you divide the attentions of a membership, by creating multiple paths of communication, is the moment you divide loyalties and cause the group to fail in the long run. Some stay with system (a) and won't or can't change, some go with (b) and see it as the new and improved and drop (a), and a minority go with both. And you end up with 2 distinct groups: the (a) group and the (b) group, and only a few bridge both. So, in time, they end up completely separate because people just end up saying that keeping up with both is not worth the trouble or time, and it all falls apart in the end. Trust me. Been there, done that, seen it happen too many times. It becomes a cult of personality, members decide which one to use based upon who else is joined rather than what benefits they can get, or bring, to/from the group. So you end up with 2 disjointed, disconnected data channels. There are many people who will NOT join Facebook. And I'm one of them. So anything posted in FB is lost to those who do not wish to follow, making Facebook a black hole of data sharing - their search engine sucks AND the best results performance is limited to only other members...and Facebook's third-party, data-mining paying advertisers. So if anyone shares good information on the FB page...only other FB members get it, unless someone decides to double-post it here.

Well this is my last post on this thread. I'm staying here, I like the gen board I like the Florida board and many have been helpful here in the 1800 board for me. There will be different avenues no matter what. I will also hit FB. I hope I am friendly in my posts as not to drive anyone away no matter what they drive or www. they like to visit.

Idk. Having the white-haired Uncle-Jesse-lookin' 1500 rider approach me at the Johnson County (Indiana) Sheriff's Ride (last week) to tell me how much he didn't like my Valk pretty much cemented my feelings on 1500 riders.
Love the old motorcycle.. just not a fan of what ends up on top of them. That's the A/B group division... it's not Fb vs. bb. It's opening up your group to riders of the same family of bikes and then treating them poorly. That word gets around. That's why this sub-forum will never grow right.
Don't blame the FB forum for that. You can thank your Uncle Jesse's for it.

I'm sorry you had that experience with a 1500 rider. He is obviously a douche bag. But don't let the few sorry bastards sour you on our club. There are plenty of us that are envious of you 1800's. We are just not as vocal as some of the few here who can't seem to help themselves.

If/when you get a negative 1500 rider attitude, politely remind them that your 1800 will run circles around the 1500 without even trying hard. As for me: another fuel stop today, another gawker, another "Wow!". The bike is a hit with anyone into any type of modern hardware. Those hanging on to their GTO as the best Detroit had to offer don't get it, I think.

And to further that point, the GTO tag was slapped onto a couple different models, was it not? I think the Tempest and LeMans both carried the GTO tag-and probably more

Don't know who Uncle Jesse is but you seem to lump all 1500 riders in the same category. Do I care what you ride NO. Do I like your choice of bike? Don't matter to me. Will it out preform my 1500 hell yes and it should. I was one of those that was chomping at the bit when I heard they were bringing the VALK back. Then I saw it and didn't care for its styling. But that don't mean it is not a fine MC just not my taste. Would I not ride with someone on an 1800 hell no. That would make me act like a HD rider. Just keep it in the wind and between the ditches.

I don't have a Facebook so it's a moot point for me, but I understand the comment about the 1500 riders. I think my biggest complaint about this board is "The 1800 Tech section" is only actually about 30% 1800 Valkyrie Tech. I'd rather see this board cleaned up than split to a different group.
I don't own a 1500 Valkyrie and don't even bother looking in their Tech section. I also don't care about rebel flags, politics, all the other things the general section is usually full of. I spend 95% of my time on this board in the 1800 Tech section.
With that said, this entire post has nothing to do with Tech and falls into the 60% of non Tech junk in the Tech forum. Why not move it to General?

I agree we should probably start posting only tech here... the general board is good for everyone's general fuming, doesn't matter which bike you ride... It would be hard on the admins to all of a sudden "take a hard line", we ought to start, ourselves, only posting tech here... -Mike

Some actual 1800 Valkyrie tech would be nice. If you own a Goldwing or F6B, that's great but there's actual forums for those. I'd be a little less tired of seeing stuff like that here if there wasn't already many Goldwing and/or F6B boards.
It's just a pet peeve of mine I guess and most people on this forum could probably care less, but I come to the tech section specifically for 1800 Valkyrie Tech.

I think the topic of this page is the Facebook page. If you want more tech then how about asking tech questions by starting a new tech topic. I'm sure there would be more tech if people would ask more information related to technical stuff. Heck you have free rein to ask and post anything within reason so start posting. It all begins with a question you got the power baby so use it As for the 1500 guy coming up and saying that he didn't like the new Valk, I can remember some admin complaining about all the bashing that was happening on the 1500 board about the new Valk. So much so they wrote to cut if off, "NOW" Bikes today have almost gotten to the point of being art, so although the new Valk is light years away from the mystique of the Harley we can still appreciate all bikes. I like the look of the Indians would I have one not really but I still like the looks and admire what went into it. If someone is into image and not the bike then of course anything outside that image is terrible, sacrilege. You are actually threatening them personally if you buy a different bike with different style. But if someone is secure in themselves and happy with their choice then they will appreciate all bikes for what they are. There is nothing wrong with not liking the look of a bike but have the caring and refinement not to blast someones choice to them. There are pluses and minuses to all rides.
