unfortunately, Ultimate doesn't yet make saddles for the 2014/2015 Valkyrie. I have heard nothing but outstanding reviews about them.

I've heard lots of good things about Russell - are they that much better than Corbin? Is it worth the extra $$$ ?

I've got a Corbin and a couple of backrests... over $900... that's not significantly more
than Russell is it? I bet a Russell would be awesome...

thanks Mike - yes the Russell is around $200 - $250 more .... and that is not even considering the price to ship your seat to them...

Coming from a BMW background you can't beat the Russell.  That being said I have a Corbin, mostly because of looks, not money.  The Corbin works well and I have done many trips with no complaints.  The stock seat hurt after 30 miles and never stopped hurting.  BTW, I have the Corbin Gunfighter with the nose job alteration.  The nose job alteration is just making the front of the seat narrower, so your legs are not spread apart at stops.  Great for 30 inch legs like mine.

Had a DL on my Interstate and loved it, I have yet to even see one of the new Valks with a Russell and I am dying to see it. Does anyone even have one on a new Valk to compare?  Just put on the corbin and with one ride in I LOVE IT!!  Still would love to have a two piece Russell  cooldude

I haven't bought my Russell seat yet. I have to wait until winter because I need my seat to ride.  I too would like to see one on a new valk, but unless you have a spare OE seat you are pretty much screwed until riding is over.  Although, I may wait until our CAD is doing a little better before pulling the trigger.

There was a Russell Day Long seat on an 1800 Valk at INZANE, but I didn't take a pic of it.

i think BSCRIVE's will be the first 2014/2015 Valk that Russell will have touched. I'm sure once they have completed the job and he sends them a pic of it on his ride, they will probably post that picture on their site. I would LOVE to ride to Shasta, CA next spring and do the 1 Day ride in service...now that would be a great way to upgrade the seat  Cheesy

Yesterday I posed a question to Russell pertaining to a seat for the Valkyrie F6C. Today I received a response that yes they can. The seat price code would be a S3. I also asked if they had a pic of a seat on the Valk. They replied that they rely on the customer to provide a pic after install. I guess we'll have to wait for somebody to come forth.

I called Russell today also inquiring and they will indeed make one but they haven't made one yet is what he said.   Having one on my old interstate no doubt it is comphy but do you think it will look like a good fit for the new Valk.  They do not deviate much from all the other RDL models in looks.    ???

I've was not familiar with the "day long" until I joined this forum. I've heard great things about it, but I never had any experience with one. I hear that the Corbin makes getting the side covers off difficult.

Ahhhh The old days,  my Yamaha DT had a little lock on the side with a clip, unclip it and the seat would hinge at the side and see all your little worldly belongings.  crazy2

I didn't realize that Russell is located in Shasta, CA. Literally 190mi. from my home. Can you say day-trip?! I might just stop by to see what they have. Then maybe a ride-in service? Mt. Shasta is an impressive mountain. Always covered with snow. Grin

I sure hope so. I'm about to pop $1500 for my Russell. It's for a '99 Interstate though.  I haven't been able to talk my wife into the F6B yet. I've had the stock seats and the Ultimate Low Rider. The Ultimate is definitely better than stock. I'm hoping the Russell will be even better.  cooldude

I'm not sure. I just hope when I ride up they don't hand me some K-Y.  2funny To be fair I'm getting a fair amount of extras such as embroidery, sunbrella fabric, backrest, etc. Everybody I've talked to that has one loves it. I don't know why but my butt just can't take long rides like it used to. You would think with the extra fat I have now versus 30 years ago it would be better.

KY,  Grin  The sunbrella fabric is pretty durable, and doesn't seem to fade. I have it as a wind-block for the side of my awning. What color?

It's called hemlock tweed. It's kind of a mix of green and black. It gets so hot here that vinyl will fry your nards. The sunbrella is supposed to be a lot cooler and less sweaty. My interstate is the green & silver '99. I'm doing the sides of the seat in a gray vinyl. Hopefully it turns out like I see it in my head. Also having my wife's and my names embroidered along with a dragon . Hopefully it's not going to be $1500 of tackiness.  2funny

I have an all leather Corbin seat with driver and passenger backrest...Rode 2 5,000 mile trips, the Corbin was awesome!! never tried a DL seat, a buddy has one being made now, you have to send them your seat pan and set an appt.....Seats and pipes are a crap shoot, unless you know someone with the seat you want, you won't know how it will feel and ride...I love my Corbin, fits me perfect, not all butts are built the same...

Cant say about a Russel seat but the Corbin has the looks and comfort I want, is it for everyone probably not.

I take my covers off all the time without taking off the seat.

The real issue is the grommets don't release easily unless lubed. Unless they release it will make it almost impossible to take off with the seat on. I did have to pull up on the side of the seat just a bit to get more clearance but you see them coming off.

what are your feelings?

My experience with Corbin seats is after about two hours, you don't have any feeling at all.

(maybe pain)

Just sitting on a seatless frame and a Corbin, is nearly the same feeling.   Grin

Why cant they make a Russel look a bit better on the bike rather than looking like a lazy boy mounted on the bike? It doesn't fit the contours and lines of the bike it looks like its sits on top of the bike. For me that was a deal breaker on the seat.

On my 1500 I had a Corbin and a sheep skin cover on it and it was perfect. Even in the hottest of days and the longest of rides it was great. I am thinking of getting a sheep skin for my 1800 since its pretty hot and you get pretty sweaty from being in the saddle for 5 hours. The sheep skin cover added comfort and softness to the seat and still looked good. If anyone has a Corbin and find its to hard for their taste I would recommend the sheep skin. Didnt change the shape of seat or the sweet spot but just made the seat cooler in summer, warmer in winter.

My Russell looks kind of like a stinkbug.

The Corbin was a real looker.

Function over Form...

I'll probably Russellize my 1500's Ultimate when it gets
a little more worn out...

Yes , Mike , that's what it's all about  , making it comfortable , in this case , it's surely is about comfort over form , besides , when you are sitting on it  , who's gonna see it
