The Pre-Ride is over and I have to say, the roads and route is going to be good.

The ride is going to be held on Oct 10th in Northwest Missouri.  Home base is Bethany, MO.  I have a block of 10 rooms set aside for Oct. 9th until Oct. 11th.  More can be added if necessary.  The long range forecast on Accuweather is showing an excellent weekend for Bethany, MO for that weekend.  Highs around 71 and lows...well...it is fall.   8)  For Friday night, the low is showing 38.  It could be a cold start to the Fall Colors ride so be sure you pack the right gear.

The hotel information is as follows:

Family Budget Inn
4014 Miller St,
Bethany, MO 64424

(660) 425-7915

Make sure you mention "VRCC" when you call to make your reservations...and I would recommend calling and making your reservations to make sure you are eligible for the correct rate.

If we book 8 or more rooms, the rates are as follows:
Single Queen - $46+tax
Single King - $48+tax
Double Queen - $50+tax

If we do not get 8 or more, the rates are as follows:
Single Queen - $54.95+tax
Single King - $56.95+tax
Double Queen - $59.95+tax

The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast (pretty basic) but there are several places close to eat...including a McDonald's right next door.

Now for the route...

Stands up will be at 8:30am.  Please be gassed up and ready to ride.

We will ride down Hwy 13 to Gallatin, MO for a stop at the Squirrel Cage Jail.  This is a fairly unique jail arrangement as it spun around at its center by using a large crank.  This is how the jailer (actually the sheriff's wife) would feed the prisoners.  Their website indicated that the crank no longer works.  After leaving there, we will make a pit stop in Hamilton, MO before heading down to Fubbler's Cove in Orrick, MO for lunch around 11-11:15.  Orrick is a small town near the Missouri River that was established in the 1880s.  It is a really small town and Fubbler's Cove is a small town place and the food was pretty good.

The morning ride will be around 85 miles.

After lunch, we will ride down to Lexington for gas then visit the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site where we can look through the museum and Anderson House located at site.  There will be a fee of $5 to walk through the Anderson House.  After leaving the State Historic Site, we will be making our way to Chillicothe, MO for a rest stop.  From there, we will be heading to Jamesport, MO and Gingerich Dutch Pantry for pie.  Jamesport is an Amish area so you know the pies will be good.  From there, we will make our way back to Bethany.

The afternoon ride will be about 150 miles.

There are several options for dinner in Bethany.  As BonS mentioned in a post, there is Toot Toot (just west of the hotel).  This is a buffet type meal with very good food for a buffet.  Just east of the hotel is Camaro Lounge.

I checked with the hotel and they will let us have a fire pit in the parking lot.  Feel free to bring your favorite beverage for rounds of story telling and tire kicking.

I really hope everyone can make it.  It really should be a good time.

Please respond to this thread if you are going to make it so we all know who will be there.

Thanks,

Joe

I marked that weekend on the Calendar so I don't forget.   That doesn't mean I'm going to make it, just that I'd like to.

Decisions, decisions, so many things to decide.   Fall Color Ride or Food......  Hmmm.............

Whenever I head up that way I eat at the Toot-Toot family restaurant in Bethany. Highly recommended. 4.4 stars on Google. Of course, there's always the mandatory 1 star review from someone that didn't like it. Can't please everybody.

Funny, the current street view on Google of the Toot-Toot restaurant has a Valkyrie rider (not me) on the opposite side of the street letting the Google car pass by. What are the odds?!

Hi Joe,
Would you have room for a couple of Okies on this ride ? We've never ridden the north part of Missouri and it sounds like you've laid out a real nice trip.

I ai'nt never been to Missouri and iffen you could put up with another visit next month from a loud mouth who ai'nt never lernt to shut up.  I am not sure if I can make it yet as I had planned to put Breunhilde in the shop for some much needed service work on the drive shaft and componets. Mostly the D  R  U was my one time ride of the fall.  I gotta wait and see about so much fun--CAN MY HEART STAND IT  ?  After D  R  U  I just ain't sure ya'll are ready for an encore appearance of    M  E  .
I see what I can arrange and go from there.  Don't be surprised iffen an Eastewrn Kentucky Hillbilly gets out the Model  "A",  tie a rope on the front and see if I can git people to pull me all the way as I do not have a motor or transmission in it.  We will see  !!!

Do people on other bikes show up to this event? Or is it for Valkyrie riders? If others show up on other bikes, how many show up normally?

Hey Alotaglock,

I know of at least 1...maybe 2 other brands of bikes that will be on the ride.  Any brand is welcome to ride with us.  I haven't checked the number of rooms reserved lately but I am guessing there should be about 20 bikes on the ride.
