I went to the Toccoa Honda shop this morning to get the tire they were supposed to
install last week.

When they called last Friday and said the right tire was there, I said "I'll be there
Monday"... they said "We won't be"... so I talked to the service manager Todd
and said I'd be there Tuesday at 9:30...

When I got there this morning at 9:30, they said they were put out at me for not
being there on Saturday ? ? ? ... and for riding 400 miles on the bias ply tire they
installed... ? ? ?

I might kind of like the bias ply tire, more than the crummy OEM tire, but I didn't
want to pay $200 for a $115 tire. I told the guy if he was upset that I rode on
the tire, he could give me $85 and leave it on there. I wasn't feeling all that good
about having them roll my bike back into their dark crowded un-visitable shop
again anyhow.

I settled on $50... now I have an awesome rear tire and a better-than-OEM
front tire (as long as it doesn't wear out too quick). Having a bias-ply tire
sounds awful, but I rode it in all kinds of conditions, all kinds of roads
this weekend, and I'm pretty happy with how it feels.

My mind in churning on the design for a wood jack adapter for this bike, I need to
take back control so I can change tires like on my 1500...

I barely lift the 1500 an inch off the ground and remove the rear fender section... to make
removing the rear tire on the 1800 easy, I need to be able to lift it a foot-and-a-half
or two feet off the ground so I can drop the wheel out from the frame/fender/bags,
I don't like removing any of that stuff on this bike.

Maybe a good adapter and one of those stiff aluminum Sears lifts will do the trick.

I'm not planning on lifting the 1800 2 feet in the air on my sagged out old cheapo jack...

There's another guy on there who pushes his goldwing in the ditch and achieves the
same thing.

I'm sure it works.

I have seen this before but the idea of doing this kind of sets me on edge. But I cannot really see how to jack the thing up. Some have said a lift adapter that goes under the rear shock mounts or control arm.

They used the rear shock mount when they put on my PR4... they had
a real lift and removed nothing but the wheel.

Just make sure she does not know that you borrowed the mattress.

I have a black Jack mega heavy duty lift. Last time I used it was a new front tire on the red/black Interstate and it worked perfect with the 1500 adapter.  1800 tires are good for the winter season here but I can give it a go when I get some time off at the end of the month when work lets me out of my cage.
