When I bought my bike, 97 standard, it had the Cobra pipes on it with no baffles,,,  just TOO loud. I purchased some  aftermarket "shorty" baffles and have run it like that, still pretty loud, but a good note and it doesn't bother my ears. But you can't help wondering if it can run better,,, since I have not acquired a second Valkyrie yet, I have nothing to compare it to. I never did try to access the state of the tuning before I installed the baffles, I just needed to calm the sound as it was obnoxious and bothersome. The baffles by necessity and creating some amount of restriction, but no idea of gains or losses as there is not a readily accessible dyno.

Lollipops is the answer for drag pipe back pressure in the Harley world.  I'm sure it would work on any drag pipe.  I made my own lollipops on a couple of bikes.  I just welded washers on bolts and installed them.  It offers some back pressure.  I don't think it's as good as a real baffle but..some people like it.

I'm old. Google "Snuff or Not".

Wow,, really good information guys, this video tells much, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjKUKhHQLHg .   I guess I could experiment some more, but it looks like the shortcut to a performance gain would be to find a set of unmolested pipes......   I think it's about time for a rebuild able wreck or basket case to turn up.
