Anyone notice besides me that the front brake line goes into and out of the front end of the bike? I had the front off and it just does a loop around and this kind of annoys me. I think its time to get a Spiegler custom made line and go straight to the front brakes. I am guessing on the ABS models the abs unit is located above the engine in the front but I have also found that line on mine was not bent correctly and was rubbing on the coil bracket. Enough so that I was wondering if eventually it would rub through even with rubber around it from the factory. The coil bracket is not that solid either so vibration can set it in motion. I just don't like the idea of the front brake line flexing at 2 points on the steering when a straight run would be better and stainless braided even black would give a better feel.

I had a squeeky noise on bumps in the road at one time so I did a reposition on this brake line and the noise went away. I am pretty sure this it but I did a couple of other things also.

When I replaced my front brake line with Spiegler, I only changed
out up to (and including) this junction box...

I looked at my front brake lines, I didn't see any configuration that would result in it rubbing coming from the main part of the bike. I have the ABS model.

Yes ABS is probably different but you have to remove the front upper cover to see the lines go past the coil supports. Mine is  non ABS, and I doubt you have the same line since the line probably connects to the ABS unit right there.

Hey thanks for the pics because it cleared up what it said on their site. I thought the lines only got replaced up to that union and your experience made it clear. From there it goes under the tank then just goes back out like a big u. I think the ABS unit is probably located at that point under the cowl so its really easy to just put a pipe to connect the 2 lines and not redesign the whole system. But I want to run a line straight to the calipers so there is no flexing when you turn. Basically it will have only one junction at the caliper connection split and run straight from the brake master.  cooldude

I actually have an interest in adding the ABS system to my non-ABS valk.  I had the ABS on my CTX700ND and loved it but when i went to buy the Valk the dealer didn't have one in stock and the fact that it was only available in black didn't thrill me either.

The line that comes out from under the tank, and past the plastic bit covering the front of the engine is a steel line. It connects to a union just under the front fork, and is a rubber hose to the rear of the front fender. From there it splits to the two calipers on either side of the wheel. From the upper mount back under the tank being a steel line, I didn't see much opportunity for flex that would result in the noise and rubbing you had mentioned.

I think the abs calipers are different... maybe it would be
easier to paint a black one  Wink

coolsmiley The brakes work really good on my stock Valk, so I will watch for any rubbing but don't want to mess with something that works excellent
