Yes they are. I would hope my riding buddy would render some first aid though. i don't know if the filming rider was with the couple who went down or simply out on his own ride at the time. i do know from watching the film that the injured rider asked the filming rider to go get the license plate of the white car. as to rendering first aid.... the filming rider spoke to both down riders. if everybody is breathing and not bleeding out, then it seems that the best course of treatment on the roadside (imo) is to keep everyone as safe and comfortable as possible until the first responders show up. This was not a remote location requiring more assistance from bystanders.

I've followed this on another forum. The rider had road rash and the passenger had to have surgery for her injuries. I'll post when I hear more.

Thank you. we have been trying to keep track of the various links (facebook and news) to this story. one of the things we would like to know is what finally happens to the driver of the white car...the way the news cycles work, we will probably only find out from the facebook or forum posts of those involved. I saw one news story where the rider said that his passenger was still in icu and that he was concerned that if her arm injuries get infected she could lose the arm (this possible outcome may just be one of many outcomes from a list of 'possibilities' that he received from the doctors...not enough info in the news article to determine how likely it is for her)

was the cage driver mad because they were passing on a double yellow? doesn't matter because you can't take the law into your own hands..... this guy needs to be charged with several things.
we had a lengthy discussion about this when Mace posted about his experience way back when. his was just a lady giving him the stink eye if memory serves.

Yeah, the "I don't care." from the guy that just decided the penalty for trying to pass him in a double yellow should be death for two people...and took it on himself to deliver same...is a nice touch. Sadly, he is not the exception.

Looks pretty black & white to me.
Assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
Should easily be jail time for the car driver. I'm curious what the final outcome will be.

Cops didn't witness it. Consider it a traffic altercation. No offence. Video will help in the insurance/inevitable civil case though, but I doubt they'll even issue the dude a ticket.

Found some more details: Driver's name is 68 year old William Crum. This happened on the "Tin Top Highway" outside Granbury (Southwest of Ft. Worth) And, as the news article of course points out, both people on the motorcycle were wearing helmet. (WHY do they always have to mention that?) And the DA is looking at the video to try to determine if the swerve was intentional. http://www.star-telegram.com/news/state/texas/article40236648.html

i see from your link that the da also charged the rider with crossing the double line as well as having an invalid license. crum is an idiot, willing to apologize to the passenger while refusing to apologize to the operator. with every word out of his mouth he makes it easier for the motorcyclists to prevail in their future civil lawsuit. here is a question, if Crum's insurance company determines that he purposely swerved, will they cover his 'collision' and liability or can they leave him out to dry?

I am genuinely surprised. It's got too much visibility, they had to do SOMETHING... The proof in the pudding is what happens a few months down the road, if they let him plea out on some minor traffic violation or actually pursue the charges...

I have a co-worker who rides a Hayabusa. Earlier this summer , he was just tooling down the road (not being a jerk) when a car driver tossed a C or D cell battery at him. Fortunately, my friend rides with a Go Pro camera and got the perp's plate. He called it in and met a LEO, showed the LEO the video, and the LEO was going to arrest the cage driver for assault as well.
BTW - he came out OK, I think he needed a new helmet / windshield.

I DO NOT under any circumstances buy the insect bite to the scrotum. Just so much unfiltered bull crap. As for this turds punishment-Make cursed sure the jury is made up of motorcyclists. I believe THAT particular jury would absofrikkinposalutely KNOW what a "proper" punishment would be. Here in Missouri I have passed vehicles in a no passing zone cause they were going well under the limit. This turd of a cage driver needs to be in the slammer until trial. RIDE SAFE.

Looks like several of you beat me to the update: GRANBURY, Texas (AP) - A 68-year-old man accused of veering his car into a motorcycle, injuring both of its riders, has been arrested on aggravated assault charges. William Crum of Granbury was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hood County District Attorney Rob Christian said Crum would remain in custody pending a bond hearing Tuesday. He didn't know whether Crum has an attorney who could comment on his behalf. Each count carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison if convicted. http://www.newschannel6now.com/stor...ted-after-car-veers-into-motorcycle-hurting-2

I'd max him! Felonious driving would my charge. Either get a warrant after viewing the video (with the prosecutor) or lodge him and get the warrant then. Either way, let his attorney, the prosecutors office, and a judge sort it out. The video tells it all. That guy filming it needs some oil or grease on something.

It looks like he lives in a trailer park. He might have trouble making bond..... Yeah, I'd streetview'ed his home, he's not exactly living it up at the Ritz, and his 1996 Mercury ain't exactly a high end late model car either... Nothing earth shattering but another small update, he's had a few other road arrests in the past (Nothing quite like this, but then the other incidents weren't, that we know of, video taped) http://www.yourglenrosetx.com/article/20151019/NEWS/151019367

I am genuinely surprised.
After thinking about what you originally said, I thought you were probably right. I'm glad they are doing SOMETHING about it... I hope they go more strict on this charge than they did on his previous. I also hope they permanently revoke his license to drive. I wouldn't trust that guy with a lawn mower... much less a car.

IF they do NOT keep him incarcerated the rest of his life and he gets back out in society just BECAUSE his license be permanently suspended WHAT ZACKLY makes any of us believe he won't drive? Remember what the turd said when the camera came up to him-I don't care X-at least three! Cause if he do NOT stay incarcerated til he's feeble he WILL do this again. And GOD forbid there is a next time-the Rider/Passenger may not get off so easy the next time. And YES I are makin an assumption his license will be permanently suspended. RIDE SAFE.
