So my Corbin seat came in today. I've not even sat on it yet, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.  Sad  Angry  tickedoff

The manufacturing/shipping time was over a month, and that's without sending in the original seat pan. The overall seat width on the main seat is the same, though the rear seat is wider and a touch thicker.

My real beef though, the seat sits down over the side fairings preventing access to the battery or the locked compartment unless the seat is removed/unsecured from the attaching hardware. The reason this is my beef, is if I ever need access to the battery should I need a jump, removing the seat will be required, and should a cop ever ask me for my insurance and registration, the seat will need to be removed. I find this highly inconvenient.

I'll get some miles on it in the coming weeks, and I'll post my thoughts about comfort. Should the ride be better than the OEM, the inconvenience of access will be less of an impact, but I'd still not recommend it.

**SIDENOTE** Better read the fine print as well. Once payment is processed, you own it. The passenger seat was hard as a brick. At least they are reworking it for her at no additional cost. If you order one, better be VERY specific about expectations upon order. Factory seats are more comfortable.

I have the dual Corbin seat and yes, it does drop over the side fairings a bit but I am easily able to remove them starting with the bottom of the fairing.  Have not had a sore bum since installing the Corbin.

That's interesting. I had my right one off while installing, and couldn't get it under the edge of the seat to put it back on.

Have the Corbin and love it, lubricate the rubber where the side covers go into and you should have very little trouble removing or installing them. May take a bit of practice but I have no problem with mine.

The quality and look is better than most seats out there. The padding is hard at first and would not seem to comfortable but after a time on them I don't think I would trade mine out for any other. Just did about an 8 hour run with a break in the middle had no problems and butt was just fine.

I don't agree with the oem seat being ok I hated it but different strokes for different folks

Try and put some leather preservative on the seat it helped mine break in and made it a bit softer.

That's good to hear that you are satisfied with yours, because mine is on the way. I did love the feel as rider my complaint was for passenger... technically not MY complaint LOL. I prefer a solo but that's how it is with a ring on the finger... or through the nose. Grin

I have a solo, and ordered a dual.  I agree these seats are firm, but my biggest complaint is that they take so long, and Corbin consistently misses their ship date.  My bags arrived 3 weeks later than promised, and now the dual's ship date has been pushed back several weeks.

Dawg don't jump to conclusions so fast. Corbin sent me a seat for a Honda Fury so it took twice that time for me. Was I mad, sure but it is here now and I am over it. I feel it is not the best seat but looks nice and much better than stock for sure. Maybe more will be made who knows.  At least Corbin invested in our 1800c with two Different seats and hard bags!  Can't say that about anyone else to date.   cooldude

Now everyone with a Corbin - question: I put just a little bit of white grease on the tabs and the rubber and I have no problem getting the covers on and off. It does take a little bit of massaging at the end however I pop the bottom then the front then I reach up under and pop the top tab then slide it towards the front of the bike and slip it out.  Not bad at all.   As for the question, have we all tried some kind of lube on the tabs????

I sent my Corbin seat back complaining about the hardness issue and side covers. This was last Feb they softened the seat up reshaped it slightly and corrected the issue of removing side covers. Not perfect but great improvement over the first try. Surprised they hadn't corrected the side cover issue. Took them 3 1/2 months and 10 phone calls to finally get it back in mid may. Not the most efficient delivery times. crazy2

The things we do cooldude Grin

The break in time also applies to the passenger seat as well. So maybe the spousal unit will be happy after some adjustment time in the seat.

Found silicon grease didn't really hold so just use Belray.

Just FYI, when I ordered my Corbin seat they said they had changed the sides so you can get the side covers off.  Just a small change, but apparently all new seats have it now.

Seeing Mel's (tallriders) seat first hand it is definitely better and anyone ordering might want to find out from him what to say to get the same results. I would have liked to know this was an option when I ordered mine. I don't want to send it back now as we ride all year long in Fl.

Did my first ride on the seat. Total 76 miles with two stops to walk around for a minute.

For comfort, compared to the OEM seat, you feel every bump. Went over a bridge connection on the interstate and that was downright jarring. Cheesy  Aside from it being very firm, I can say that the overall support of the butt is superior to the OEM seat. I'll give it a month of riding, and a 1000 miles before I get too worked up about break-in.

Didn't really have a good pic of the Valk with every thing done and the Corbin seat so while on a ride today I decided to stop and take a photo op.

I considered them as well, though I think it makes the Valk's look too much like an F6B, and I didn't like that bike. Thought it looked like the bike had a fat ass.

I like 'em because I think they're nothing like the F6B/Goldwing
unitized rear end...
