I'll check that, thanks !  cooldude

Depending on your Givi trunk, I could point you in the right direction for a light kit in that trunk. I'm quite happy with mine.

Thanks for the proposal but considering the fact that I'm not able to find the plug behind the horn, I will decline !  Embarrassed

I did try today, couldn't find it, even though I read this

Forget trying to use those instructions to help you find the connector, it is of absolutely no help.

Your best chance is to look at the wiring diagram, such as

http://cdn1.bikebandit-images.com/schematics/schematics/honda/hon019/hm0614028071.gif

The fog light connector is down in the lower right, see fittings #21 or #22 (can't remember which).  Find that branch of the harness and follow it until you reach the terminations, this is how I had to find the connector on my bike.

These will be the LEDs I use for my turn signal idea. If the prototype harness lights these bad buys it will light anything we can think of.

Hey Moofner, awesome work so far!! Do you think the next time you speak with the folks at Admorelights you could inquire about making our rear turn signals also function as running lights just as our fronts do?

Hey Moofner, awesome work so far!! Do you think the next time you speak with the folks at Admorelights you could inquire about making our rear turn signals also function as running lights just as our fronts do?

The first place to start would be to find out if the front and rear turn signals are the same part number. Usually, running light LEDs are 5 volt and the actual bright signal flashes on when it gets 12 volts. As far as I can tell, this system is different and uses a pulse for signal. The lights are always getting 12 volts!

I'm not sure they can be turned into running lights even with an adapter. I'd love to see if anyone has got them to work. I did see someone that got a new fender eliminator kit to work, but it was a tail light with amber signals as well.

I just checked the part numbers and each turn signal has a different part number, but just by looking at the signals, it looks like fronts would bolt up to the back. Mabie that's a starting point.

So I did a lil experimenting and I'm digging the results. This will now be the new turn signal setup I test Admore's prototype harness on. Straight 12 volts lights'em up! I'm also pre-wiring the bike so I can install a couple amber stripes on my skid plate. It will be a nice effect to light up the road, either left or right,  depending on which way I want to turn.

Time to start doing the final wiring and putting it all back together! Only 3 weeks before I'm off to Daytona!

Opinions?

You might want to step it up! Instead of Daytona, you might want to consider Canaveral?

Their having a launch on Target Date: April 8, 2016 - 4:43 p.m. Eastern

It will be interesting to see if the LEDs hold up to the heat from the rads.  If you have no problems in Florida then I may do the same thing.   coolsmiley

I'm not gonna lie... I was so excited for this idea that I didn't even think of the radiator heat. I did check out the high range on led strip lighting and it was 60 degrees Celsius.... So that's 140 Fahrenheit. I might be in trouble!  Undecided

Tonight's ongoing wiring adventure involved lighting up the battery and storage door access "Valkyrie" panels and installing my stainless skid plate with reinforced silicone LEDs for some ground effects.

That skid plate was annoying to line up, but I got it. I placed the LEDs away from the exhaust pipes but also not too far in the center. They have a nice gap of air around them so they shouldn't overheat, and their silicone sleeves will help them against excessive heat buildup.

Little victories are adding up and the bike is starting to look like I imagined it would. Anyone that hits me at night will be committing first degree... there is no way I won't catch a cager's attention.

A different color for tonight's progress report!

Ugh, you are correct! You cannot be lazy in this kind of love/hate relationship.

SHE IS DONE! First stage is complete. The bike is put back together. The turn signals are pre-wired and awaiting Admore's controller. This was a nice project, but I'm glad she is back together so I can ride. I'm not lucky enough to have 2 motorcycles, yet!

I'm currently uploading a video on Youtube for a better example of the lights. I'll post the link once it is up.

Alrighty then.

Admore sent me the prototype harness, and this is what it looks like installed (piggybacked off of the same connectors from my first Admore harness) on the bike. I did not install the red wire as that is for  a brake signal. This means you could use this harness for rear aftermarket signals and the turn signals can function as brake/tail lights.

The harness applies 5 volts to the lights as well as 12 volt turn signals, so this might work out for some people depending on the aftermarket lights purchased. I'm uploading some videos of the lights in action as I type this.

I posted these videos to my Admore Lighting thread, but I'm also going to include them here since this is part of the overall bike build.

These are Youtube videos of the lights in action. You also hear my annoying voice. Mute as needed.

The Moof is loose - the Moof is loose.......................

I would love if it works with the SoCal lights. I'm guessing that it will however the amber turn light would be on all the time at present?  Might not be bad.   uglystupid2

Moof correct me if I am not understanding this.

To be honest... I don't know. It depends on the SoCal lights. If they require 12 volts or more to switch over from the driving white lights you are good to go. If they switch when sensing ANY voltage, you will always have yellows. I just don't know without having a set of SoCal lights myself to test. I had Admore make a UNIVERSAL harness, and that has opened up a world of possibilities based upon the individual manufactures of aftermarket lights. I've asked them to make a harness that does 12 volts only. They are going to look at their stock on hand and see what they can do. They are very interested in my ideas and bike, as no one has been in this much contact with them (so they say).

The funny part about all this is that we haven't just made a harness for just our new style Valkyries, we have made a harness for ALL bikes EVER! The kit will sense traditional 12 volt incandescent wires as well as new style LED pulse modulation. I have literally helped Admore create a universal bike harness.

Stanc,

I've sent an email off to SoCal telling them what I've done. I can figure this all out pretty quick if they let me test out a set of their lights.

A long shot for a good answer, but it is the best I can do.

I think it is time to put an end to this chapter of my wiring journey. Here is the latest results.

It might not be much, but I think I've done a lot for this bike. I've enjoyed the challenge and I know I'm bring something special to my night time riding. Thanks to everyone that has enjoyed the adventure with me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to bed. I have to be the Master of Ceremonies for Eglin Air Force Base's Annual Motorcycle Safety Day tomorrow.

That is right folks, not only does Moofner make bikes look cool, he does speeches in front of hundreds of people too. Motorcycle riding safety is important to me. Everyone should get home safe on two wheels. Also, never trust anyone that refers to themselves in the third person. They are nuts!
