Wish I could make it, but have committed to supplying the meat for a birthday party that afternoon. I'll be up and around at that hour.............throwing a couple of pork shoulders on the smoker(turkeys later).
Guess I could see if they wouldn't mind reheating if I cook the day before. Would really like to get a ride in. So that makes me a BIG maybe!!

Hoser thanks for the invite to ride. We had a great time and it was nice to meet new Valkyrie (and Yamaha) riders. Your route was great, once we left breakfast and were east of Horton all the roads were a first time for me until we hit just north of Atchinson.
Sorry we ran short on time had to split when we did. We were home by 7:15 so it was a 13 hour day of riding for us.
See you again soon we hope,
Raymond and RHonda

Your cheeks are sorer than mine, clint and I stopped at his camper to check it out, and my wifey called and said a roast was in the oven, I took Clint over to Auburn and we pigged out. He;s comin over tomorrow after he breaks camp and wer'e gonna fix that damn speedo, thanks for the help on the brake caliper. Glad you made it safe, and I made Venture Bob's bike an honorary Fat Lady, hope ya don't mind. I'll post some pics soon as I figure out how to get em out of my camera. Anybody got a screwdriver? Raymond, Rhonda, Hoser sorry I could not make it some family obligation had to take precidence. Glad you all had a good time. I did meet a fellow Valk rider sitting on the side of I-35 north of Wichita. He had a flat, but already had some help coming with a trailer. He had a maroon and creme Tourer and works at the Bobz BikeZ in Kingman. He had an interesting horn, a siren off an alarm system, boy was that loud! Hopefully I can make the next ride, stay safe! Although it is a great bike, I ain't for me. Too big, too much chrome to keep clean, black and it's 10 years old so soon buying parts may be an issue. Somebody with $8750.00 is going to get a real nice 18000 mile Interstate. It's number 000154 ever produced.
Hope to see you at Bobz on the 10th!

Regret it? Don't think so. I will be happy not to have to wash it anymore. I have to ride 2 miles of very dusty dirt road just to get to the pavement. Wash job lasts about 1/2 mile. Also 850 + lb. bike is not much fun in the dirt.

Sounds good Raymond.... Sorry to everyone, Hoser, Center12, Raymond, Rhonda, and to anyone else that went on the trip to Nebraska last weekend. My plans were to make it but after getting back to Olathe after the races on saturday night and riding in 45 degree weather I realized that I was fine with the temperatures but Beth didn't have any cold day gear to ride in and I didn't want to risk her getting sick. My intentions were to call center12 (charlie) at 7am and tell him I wasn't going to make it and to ride on but it seems as though he managed to figure that out after me falling back to sleep I look forward to many rides ahead of us hot or cold days I will do my best to be available. We still need to visit the hamburger joint in Allen,ks And I think Engemt (JD) was going to look at a group rate for the salt mines in Hutchinson for a november ride. Yeah that's right JD, it was your idea and so I am putting it out there so you can get a head start on this If you need me to check in on this I think I can squeeze the time into my busy schedule ??? Regarding Oct 10 to Bobz Bikz in Kingman,ks for open house. Is there a plan to meet somewhere to ride over? And is there anyone else interested in the ride from Topeka area to head down there? I am planning on it just looking to find a place to meet up with you "southerners". Stude31

Sounds good Raymond, maybe I'll make it to 10 posts.........with the pertinent topics and all . Joe, got the shocks and riser today, got so excited I took off a couple hours early from work so I could get them on. The 12's are a vast improvement over the 13's, my whole foot actually touches the ground now(11.5 wouldn't have hurt my feelings). Went ahead and put the riser on, certainly feels different but only miles will tell if I have them in the right position. Will be unable to ride this weekend, I'm the lucky rascal that get's to hold call duty for the next week starting Friday.

Looking at the websites last night I see that tickets to the Salt MIne are $14.35 for adults. To get a group discount you need 28 or more to do the tour. Seniors 60+, Active Military, and AAA members can get in for 12.75. The tours last 1.5 to 2 hours start at 9am til 6 pm on Saturdays and 1pm -5pm Sundays. The last tours go at 4pm. the Cosmoshere is costs $15 for adults or a senior discount 60+ $13. Hours are Saturdays 9am to 8pm, Sundays 12 pm to 5 pm. There is a combo ticket for $25 and you get both places. If we did that I would go to the salt mine on a Saturday morning, go to the Dutch Kitchen for lunch, hit the Cosmoshere Saturday afternoon. The Dutch Kitchen is about a 15-20 minute ride from the Salt mine and to the Cosmoshere. the Dutch Kitchens menu is located at www.dutchkitchenrestaurant.com. They are open on Saturdays not Sundays. They also have a private dining room if you want, but you can see that. Let me know when for sure and I will work on making some firm plans with the locations, need a general idea how many would be going would also help. Do we want to do both museums or just one or the other. JDW

Great place to eat as is the Dutch Kitchen.

I like the Dutch Kitchen less noise and the atmoshere is better in my opinion. Dutch Kitchen was the orginal and the Carriage Crossing was the spinoff. Both places have good food, I was disappointed last time I ate at the Carriage Crossing we could not even carry on a conversation it was so loud. That furniture warehouse building really echos, LOL! Either place will do and about the same distance or time. It's what everyone wants to do I am game for. JDW

I guess we could also wander over to Yoder's main street and take in the shops there. I have never gotten it done, but been meaning to. It's just how much time you want to spend where and what time to start.
How's this sound? Get to the salt mine by about 9 am, do the two hour tour, rest room breaks etc. 11:15-11:30 ride over to the eating place which ever one people want. Do an early lunch. 1 pm move to yoder's downtown and wander for an hour 2 pm ride to the space museum 2:15- 6:30 do the space museum thing, you can spend the whole day here easy! when we get done there we can either go eat at the opposite location as lunch, head home, or find another place to eat. Let me know what you all think! JDW

I'm only up for one tour per day. Too much walking for me otherwise. I vote for the salt mine and then Dutch Kitchen lunch. We might also raise the time up an hour to 10 to give far away folks some leisure getting there in sunshine??
Darkness comes pretty early in November so too late of a day would have folks riding in dark cold conditions.
Of course we can play it by ear after lunch and see what happens.

Good point Capt, didn't think of that, although my wife would certianly agree with you! That makes it a lot easy to work out as well. Salt Mine at 10, leisurely. Then move to the Dutch Kitchen for a good lunch and spend sometime kicking tires and telling lies, Stude31 will probably talk about his "Best Hamburger in the world" at some closed up burg in Allen. Maybe we could start planning December's ride then, everyone bring an idea! JDW

I work tonight so let me check to make sure I can get off work. Great point Captn! Obviously there are some things that others don't think about since they live so close to the attraction JD Bob if you sell your valk (sigh) we still want ya around. Heck we haven't even had the opportunity to meet you yet. I am planning on visiting Bobz Bikz on saturday. JD is suppose to be checking to see if he is off on saturday. I am thinking of riding down in the morning to some Podunk town, Newton ??? I think? And eat breakfast and then head on over to Kingman. Looking forward to seeing you over there Bob!!! Anyhow, I just want to take a second and say thank you to the valkyrie owners that I have had the great fortune to have met on these rides in Kansas. I sure do have a lot of fun and it is addicting. As soon as one "meet and greet" is over I can't wait for the next. You all are great to be around and I am always excited for "the next time". And to all of the other Kansas or surrounding state riders I hope you can plan to ride in on one of these rides sometime they are sure a lot of fun. I think it just reminds me of inZane IX everytime and I just can't wait for X!!!! How many days is it again Take care all, Stude31

How many days is it again Take care all, Stude31 I may or may not be at Bobz on Saturday. I may go to Tulsa to test ride a new Yamaha FJR1300EA on Saturday. Not sure yet what will happen yet. I should know by Friday evening. Ride safe. Bob
