I'm in for the bed and breakfast, or the tent or the motel or under a picnic table. I'm gonna ride K4 all the way out, it is as good as you get in Kansas. If I get back alive from GOTF, that is! Hoser

I'm open to either or any - the B&B does sound nice.

Okay Guys and Gals, From the feed back I received I went ahead and set up the Swedish Country Inn as our ground zero for April 30th overnight . Becky Anderson the owner has blocked the Inn for the fifteen rooms she has left for the "VRCC Kansas Riders" group. I advised her we would be calling individually to make reservations . I also told her if we haven't filled out the fourteen, I took one, rooms by the middle of April we would release them :'( so she could sell them as she as other requests. So make those reservations, please! Swedish Country Inn 112 W. Lincoln Lindsborg, Ks. 67456 1-800-231-0266 www.swedishcountryinn.com Ask for the VRCC Kansas Riders group. The cost is $79 for queen beds, $69 for full bed, $85 for a double full, I believe. This should be a great ride and visit to start off the 2011 season for most of us. I will be working on the BBQ place next so stay tuned for that info! JDW

Well since no one has really stepped up and made any other plans for this ride I mapped out a 160 mile route after the museum in Marquette. It will take us around two lakes, through some small towns, and back to ground zero. I planned a stop in Wilson at the "Made from Scratch" diner that is good food and reasonably priced for lunch. Some more riding and a dinner stop at the "Hickory Tree" in Smolan, then on to the Swedish Country Inn. Where we can kick back, kick tires, and maybe tell a lie or two! Sunday after we enjoy a full Swedish Breakfast we can head out to Cassoday. Does someone else want to handle this leg, ??? or I can if you want. I have never been to Cassoday, maybe someone who has been and knows the ropes? If anyone else has a plan throw it out here the more choices the better! Riding, Good Food, Good Friends makes for a great couple of days! I can't wait!! JDW

I know how to get to Cassoday from Lindsborg, several ways as a matter of fact. Two lanes all the way if you want. We should get there by ten or so to see and be seen when the crowd is biggest. Hoser

Well... Here is my .02. Fastest route to get their will take us 1hr58min and that would mean taking majority of the highways and no back roads. If we plan on eating this wonderful swedish breakfast then kickstands would need to be up by 8am. I don't know if that is going to happen. I would imagine we wouldn't roll in until 10:30... (gut feeling... after all engemt likes his beauty rest). So if we leave at 8am then i think this is the quickest route to get there: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=E+Lincoln+St&daddr=Sunbarger+St&hl=en&geocode=FYqVTAIdRqEt-g%3BFfZ8RAId0GY9-g&mra=me&mrsp=1,0&sz=15&sll=38.03856,-96.645913&sspn=0.028291,0.052314&ie=UTF8&ll=38.147518,-97.141113&spn=1.807844,3.348083&z=9If we want to avoid a bit of the highway I would suggest going straight across from Lindsborg on smokey valley road and catch US Hwy 15 south and then onto Hwy 56 for 14miles rather than 36 miles on hwy 56. (personally I don't care about blasting down the highways after all that's the fastest way to get where you are going.) Here is the link to it. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=14th+Ave%2FUS-81+BUS+N&daddr=38.55126,-97.31469+to:Washington+St&geocode=FSqCTAIdurkt-g%3BFdw-TAIdfhgz-ik3Dsk-U5q8hzHopIh7AehlzA%3BFS53RAId5GY9-g&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&sll=38.239259,-97.141113&sspn=0.902801,1.674042&ie=UTF8&ll=38.314724,-97.414398&spn=0.901864,1.674042&z=10Those are my two suggestions would be the quickest route since we will be visiting for breakfast and then high tailing it to cassoday. One other note everyone should print off a map in case you don't feel comfortable riding in a group then you will know the route. I will have my cell phone in case someone needs anything. (785-two two zero - thirteen zero eight). I do not feel safe riding in a group larger than four so if you feel the need to be in a group to ride to cassoday please, please communicate with those you intend to ride with that it is okay to ride in their group. I speak from experience it is much safer to ride in groups of four w/ a quarter mile separation (of the different groups), than to have six or seven bikes all together. It causes cagers to get impatient and can lead to a nasty ending. I say this due to losing a very close friend losing his life due to a large group of bikes coming the other direction and a vehicle behind them got impatient and tried to pass all 7 bikes on a blind curve and my buddy had no where to go coming the other way... So just respect each other and understand the safety of riding in a group. This is a great write up for group riding... http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/streetsurvival/group_motorcycle_safety/index.htmland from Rick with Value Accessories and I should mention a wonderful vendor for our valks. http://www.valueaccessories.net/Group%20Riding.htmLook forward to seeing everyone!!

Well I finally got a call back from the Hickory Tree in Smolan, I was trying to set up a party room for us. Anyway they have closed do to health reasons in fact it is for sale or auction on April 5th. The owner said he hated giving it up but 13 surgeries in 7 months and more on the Horizen he felt he had to. I wished him well you could hear the disappointment in his voice. So I am looking for another eating venue for Saturday night. Rest assured we will find something and announce it as soon as I have it confirmed this time. Made from Scratch will be having a German Buffet or you can order from their menu if that is not your thing. I have eaten here several times it is always good! JDW

How about the Brick House Grill in Lindsborg? I have eaten there in the past and was impressed enough to remember them. Also I believe they have a bar so if someone would like to indulge in adult beverages after dinner it's in the same town as where we are staying.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I got to thinking, yeah I know , that Lindsborg has several different restaurants and instead of setting up a place to eat Saturday night just let everyone explore the town and find their own. ??? I think we should be back at Lindsborg around 4-4:30 so that gives everyone a chance to check out the town. They do have some neat shops as well. Chime in let me know, if you want I can still pursue a place for all of us at once. I was so ready for the HIckory Tree I am bummed that they have closed. I am thinking there is a life lesson in there about waiting to long to do something thinking it will always be there , LIKE THIS TRIP!! Don't forget to call and reserve your rooms! JDW

BUMP! For those of you that have bookmarked this thread. One was started for a get together next weekend in a different thread and it's for April 30th to May 1. Here is some information if you didn't see it.... April 30th is rapidly approaching! I checked with the Swedish Country Inn tonight to see how many rooms were taken out of our 15 "blocked" rooms. I was informed 3-5, the manager was unavailable when I called. I have to admit I was a bit surprised I thought we had more interest in this get together. :'( I am hoping this got lost in the Ks thread and people did not realize it was actually happening. Anyway we are meeting in Marquette Ks to tour the Motorcycle Museum at about 9:30 in the morning. Then we have a ride through the Kansas country side that will take us past or around two State lakes. ??? We are planning on eating in Wilson Ks. at the Made from Scratch featuring a german food buffet for lunch! Then back to Lindsborg Ks for the night at the Swedish Country Inn B&B with a Swedish Breakfast included with your room the next day. There are several eating places in Lindsborg or you are a short 15-20 minute ride to Salina or McPherson for dinner Saturday night. On Sunday we are off to Cassoday for the biker get together and lots of vendors. Get your rooms booked and chime in here! I told Made from Scratch I would give them a head count by the end of next week! I also told the Inn we would release rooms the first of next week, they have others that want to stay!!! Well, hum. I used the Ks thread to start with and got very little response and quite frankly neither has the B&B. I will be calling tomorrow and probably releasing the block as they have a wedding in town that weekend and are in demand. I thought we had more interest than just a handful of us, but all is good. Any ride with my friends is a good one whether large or small. I did do another thread just in case this got lost in this thread, apparently it did not. Anyone one from Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, or anywhere else is more than welcome. Hope to see you all there.

My wife and I will be there as well, I believe Stude31 and his wife, Willow and Motomama, Hoser, Bark2 and his wife, and I am not sure who else. I did not get the hold cancelled yet, work has been worse than usual. You may still have a chance for a room if you want one.
I too, am so ready for this! Hopefully Captain, Valkhound, and some others will join us as well.

My wife and I will be attending. However.. We will be in a four wheel vehicle. She has been having some medical issues and riding on a motorcycle seems to add to the problem. We want to get out of town as well. I think we will see about going friday and staying friday and saturday night. I just got back from a trip out to New Mexico so I had my fun riding but still want to see everyone..... Charlie (center12), sure glad your going to make it and you will have a good time for sure!!

Ty, I called to see about getting a room for friday night but they are booked that night too.. I believe that the museum opens at 10am and Engemt had mention meeting their.. here is a link... looks like it is a 2 1/2 hr trip.. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=topeka,ks&daddr=120+N+Washington+St,+Marquette,+KS+67464-4010+(Kansas+Motorcycle+Museum)&hl=en&geocode=Fc_xUwIdxuZL-ikpeuza5AK_hzHwp-Nq0Ocrvg%3BFR9KTAIdAi4r-iFhvohxyzz1HinN4b6wflKjhzEQllgfzfETMA&mra=ls&sll=38.551387,-97.837029&sspn=0.218823,0.41851&ie=UTF8&ll=38.756225,-96.937866&spn=1.790544,3.348083&z=9If everyone coming from the topeka area wants to meet say at the Phillip 66 gas station at 10th and Wanamaker at 7am and fill up and leave by 7:15am we should arrive just in time. It's up to you guys but that's a suggestion.
