Just found out that I have air shocks on my Interstate.  Shocked
Did they come from the factory like that or is this a aftermarket shock?

They put the valve stem in my left bag.

Progressive 416's, aftermarket.  Had them on my Tourer when I got it and hated them.  They can be rebuilt, and some swear by 'em.

I think some have beefed them up by adding a bit more oil.  MarkT comes to mind.

Yup, Progressive 416s.  I have them on my '98 Tourer and like them.  Be careful of the plastic hose nut on the shocks.  Do not tighten with a wrench.  There is also two o-rings on the end of the tiny hose.  Just be careful.  There has been a lot of discussion of these shocks on this board.  Search is your friend...

The Goldwing GL1500 has one air and one coil rear shock.

If you have 2 air, you might think about replacing one with a coil, and just use the air one to adjust for the load on the bike.

I seem to recall them having their best utility for guys who go through big swings of carry weight with gear, back seaters and/or towing trailers.  But otherwise, there are better shocks available.
