Met my new girl yesterday and she's a keeper. ( it appears all of them are)

Got some issues to work out before I put a thousand miles on her getting home.

The PO used some hardware store, off the shelf bolts to hold the shocks on, that are to long.  They don't hold the shock tops in tightly and she has a shimmy shake.  That's the first concern to be addressed this morning.

Plus the front brakes need to be bled.

She pops on deceleration, but that will mean a de-smog and new rubber when I get home.

She has a radio, rear speakers, and a cb.

I'm assuming the plugs with the covers are for mics?

Is there a manual for the radio somewhere online?  I don't plan on using it much, but it would be nice to know what all those buttons do.  No owners manual with her.

I think I'll call her "Georgia"

I'll do some pics if I can figure out how to downsize them on the road.

Those audio jacks support headsets in the helmet for intercom and radio/cb.

There's also a switch for selecting between headset and speakers.

Pretty easy to figure out switchology while stopped. Not so much while moving and new to you.

Enjoy a safe trip after you get the work done. Don't forget tire pressure. When I bought mine (trailered it home) it had <30 psi in both tires.

Hey Hook,, you can use this to change the file size of you photos ,, if you get the time while you are on the road.  Good to hear Georgia is a keeper.

If I remember correctly when I went searching for how to use the radio I couldn't find it there.  You can still order a user manual from a Honda dealer for around $20.  I believe if you do a search here you'll find the operating instructions for the radio/CB.

The wrong shock bolts are one thing, but if the shock bushings are bad too (very common with the uppers), that can cause some wobbling as well.

In the link that Earl posted there are very good instructions at the bottom by Paladin. My problem is remembering everything as I'm riding. I just don't use them enough.

Could also be header gasket leaks, couldn't it?

Yes.

Manual link also posted. My email is there, along with the button/functions.

As for pictures. I post to photbucket. Post the link in the forum. Come back to my post and choose to modify it. The forum had added the "image" command, usually posts at 800 x 450, which requires scrolling. I come back and reduce them to 75% (600 x 338).

Here's the only shot photostash will let me do.  I don't have time to learn a new system and for some reason photostash delets any second picture a try to add even though I'm no where near the total amount allowed in my library . tickedoff

So far I've added spacers  and washers to the shock top mounts but still have some shimie going on. The bushings are suspect, but that will have to wait.   I checked all front end bolts and I suspect the triple tree bearings may be shot or loose.  It's not that bad, just not right and will have to wait till I get her home.

I've adjusted the shifter to the right position, PO had it way to high.

Added fluid to the clutch and both brake masters. Fluids have decent color.

Little concerned about a slight vibration at the end of the clutch run out in first.  Not enough to stop my run for home, just a little something to bother me the whole way.

Added some high way boards.

She was missing all 4 exhaust bracket nuts, so added them.

Adjusted the clutch lever to the correct position, PO had it high also.  Can't figure out why cause it  sucked there.

The PO's son painted her just before he put it up for sale, which scared me at first, but it looks like a good job except he didn't use OEM nuts and bolts (sometimes none) on rebuild.  And he also didn't protect the tank mouth enough and the first time I put gas in, I found peeling paint on it.  Scraped it off and seems ok, going to pull the tank when I get home anyways.

Radio works well, thanks for all the info everyone. cooldude

I got a 60 mile shake down run yesterday down here in GA.  Beautiful day and the area is very nice, just a little busy for my taste.

Gonna do a oil and filter change and head to NC tomorrow.  Looks like I'm going through 4 national forests.  Ya can't hate that.  Smiley Smiley
