what would be the most bike friendly/scenic road between Calais/ Saint Stephen and Van Buren?

Which roads are best, the US (route 1 & 1A) or New Brunswick/Canadian roads?

We are heading  there this summer and are looking for some recommendation.

TIA

Not sure of the Canadian route Dan, but I have traveled US Rt 1 from
Ellsworth to Fort Kent more than once.
One of the " 4 Corners"  is located in Caribou, ME. ( worth a stop if in the area )

I have always enjoyed this ride, but that was only half of the ride for the day....
The second half was just as enjoyable, traveling Rt 11 from Fort Kent south to
at least Millinocket if not to Milo....depending on time, as it's best to be off
these roads when the moose are on the loose.

Stay in touch and ride safe.... look forward to seeing you and Carol some evening.

My guess-timate would be: 4 hrs minimum probably closer to 5 hrs Dan.
Calais to Houlton 2 hrs
Houlton to Presque Isle 1 hr
Presque Isle to Van Buren 1 hr

This ain't planning any scenic pic taking stops / food / gas on the way either Dan....
Laurel and I stop too many places for pics to get a good time frame
from point A to point B.

Could be a damp one Dan....Sounds like rain moving in
Sunday afternoon/evening and hanging around until Tuesday afternoon.

Oh well, maybe it will keep the flow of tourists to a minimum  coolsmiley
