This morning I had a dentist appointment in Jax at 8:30, a cleaning and exam, the bad filling that had to come out and get refilled was just an added bonus ! Now 11 o'clock and done i was numb and feeling like that lip was flappin in the wind. Riding home the back way down rt. 13 was peaceful, a canopy of trees and barely a breeze made it seem quiet except for the rumbling of my glass packs, I came upon a rare traffic light at a 4 way with a biker bar, the parking lot on the corner was filled with 20 or more Harleys and riders all B.S.ing it seemed as everyone stopped to take a look at Teal as i down shifted to a crawl. I never broke stare down the road. The light turned green just before my feet where about to come off my pegs and I couldn't help myself and let her rip, rolled out first gear to 5 grand and seemlessly grabbed 2nd, the noise from my dragon flooded what was once a quiet gathering of Hogs, and i was gone. A large, side lipped smile was stuck on my face the rest of the way home. It felt great to show what a stock Valkyrie with a fat man and glass packs can do to vacate the premises with shocking dispatch.

Nice. I was in a packed Hog Dealer lot some years back on my Valk, with three more came riding in in a tight triangle. Then the leader popped a nice sweet controlled wheelie, goosing it up twice, three times, then down gently and all three pulled in like pros in a bike circus event. Most of the crowd was stunned, but tried to act like they didn't see it. I went over and pumped all three hands, and we had some laughs. Never saw those fellows again.

A few years ago, I managed to embarrass a Harley rider to the max. One of the guys I worked with had a harley sportster, he broke down on sr33 about 7 miles north of I-4. He called me up to see if I could pick him up and haul it to the dealer in Lakeland. I had a small flat bed trailer, I hooked it up to the Interstate and went and got him. Picture this hauled his Harley behind the Valk and had him riding bitch on the back. He said he would never live it down, hauled by a Honda, created a stir at the dealer also. Took me a month to get the grin off my face. I don't think he ever forgave me.

I love it , all great . The wife and I rode our Wing on a "Credit Union ride for the Kids" poker run a few years back . After one stop we ended up behind a group of no muffler hogs at a four lane intersection ,red light. I couldn't take the noise any longer had to leave them all at the flip of the green light. To my ears, there is a difference between a nice tone of exhaust and just obnoxious noise. Ya'll done well. For me though, hauling in the Sporty , to the HD dealer has to be the prize winner

WOW. Reminds me never to get on your bad side. On the other hand, his fate was already doomed so he could just have taken you down with him and put his arms around you and lean his head on your shoulder.

great stories! I have one... I recently sold my 2007 Honda 919 just 2 weeks ago. The young guy who bought it wanted a modern, naked, fuel injected, reliable sports bike. He obviously did his research. Anyway, I joined him for the test ride on my Valk (the "old man" cruiser as he put it). I gave him a few miles and a few minutes to get used to the 919. Then at a light with a nice clear, safe, open 3 miles I told him "when it turns green, go-ahead and open it, I'll see you at the next light." Light turned and we both launched. The DRAGON ROARED! I left him behind me but he tried tho. At the next light I said "ok, you're just not used to the bike, try again, don't hold back." Light turned and we launched. He did much better but only by inches. On way back I said "ok, you tested the power, now let's test handling and braking. The next road has twisties with passing opportunities, pass me up when you can and let's meet up at the end." By the 3rd and 4th curve he disappeared from my rearview! He quickly caught and was able to keep. Finally the test ride over and we got back safely. He said the 919 performed perfectly but he never expected the Valk to do what he just witnessed, especially near peg scraping leans and ferocious acceleration. He didn't expect to be beat. I told him I have decades more riding experience than he plus I rode the 919 on these roads for years. But more so, the Valk is what the 919 wants to be when it grows up! So time to close the deal, he says "the 919 is awesome! Looks, power, handling, braking, naked and it's fuel injected which can't be beat." to that I said "well, actually, the Valk only a 2003, flat 6 cyl with 6 carbs, only a 5 speed and 660 lbs... and technically it did beat a fuel injected 919." He could not believe it was much older and carbureted. He bought the 919 but he also left with newfound respect for "old guys and old tech heavy cruisers." I bet his next bike is a Valk and definitely a Honda...
one more story... I'm the only non-HD rider and owner amongst my small circle of riding associates and we sometimes congregate at Scooter’s Saloon at the Brandon Harley Davidson Motorcycle. The very few times I go My Valk gets all the attention. But what I really love is how when it's time for me to leave and I crank on my Valk, I let the DRAGON ROAR thru its glass packed vocal cords and the entire bar turns their heads to see "what was that". It's true, in a pack of HD nothing sounds like a Valk and it always gets attention... :-)

I am so happy with my Valk. Sometimes my buddy's ask me why I "stepped down" from a more modern bike, more advanced bike, especially go carbureted. Even my mechanic cautioned me. But I have no regrets. It's the best bike I ever had to date. I will eventually go to the next gen 2015 F6C but I keeping this one and driving it until one of us can't do it anymore (and I think that will be me). LOL

Good job Mike, Im sure the HD riders at the bar were talking about WTH was that for quite some time A couple years ago I was leading a 4 bike ride to Daytona for Biketoberfest. One of our riders, a woman (fairly large gal) and her daughter (even larger gal) were on an 1100 Yami star. Well about 30 minutes out from Daytona the woman signaled me, we stopped and she yelled, can I take her daughter the rest of the way with me cause she was flat tired of handling the bike with that much weight aboard. Ok, so I'm already pulling my cargo trailer and now I have a 180# fat gurl on the back of my fat gurl. LOL. So we get to a stop light and there are three Black road kings; identical HD's all side by side at the line. Thy look back at me with trailer and passenger laughing and talked amongst themselves so when the light went green they were going to show me (us) what they had. Two of them took off like gangbusters but the one that looked back and laughed at us had is bike in neutral so when he goosed it all he did was make noise. I shook my head and pointed, he didn't like that so he put it in first and LAUNCHED! Well, launched for a road king obviously with no mods. I stayed about 10 feet off his back wheel through the gears, I could have easily passed him, but I thought it would prove the same point if I just stayed right there, the spacing never varied more than a couple inches. He kept looking in his mirror with each higher gear totally flabbergasted that he couldn't pull away (not one bit) from a Honda so loaded down. When that second light turned green we could see his buddies waiting for him (they had made that light) he just motored off easy like this time, I guess he wasn't for no 2 outta 3....lol That was a precious moment.

A couple years back I went to breakfast in Eustis at the Mason Jar with an HD rider that lives on the other side of our block. Sometime well prior to that day, we had done the same thing and included a couple of his buddies. About halfway over there they hinted they wanted to put the Black Beauty to a test so off we went. Mostly country roads in that area and try as they would, they always found me waiting for them at the next intersection. Now.....back to the more recent b'fast run with my neighbor. He said he remembered that day and has since had some major juice added to the mix, then went into a long dissertation of what he had paid thousands of $$ for. Without saying it, he was letting me know it wasn't going to happen again. Once out of the city he motioned for me to do a roll-on against his new investment so I obliged after dropping down a gear. He later told me it really pissed him off when I'd slow down and wait, then soon as he got there I'd goose it again. The real kicker was at a stoplight on SR44 out in the country east of Eustis, he wanted a flat out drag race. Again....I obliged. Again....he was frustrated, it was closer than the roll-on challenge but still second place by a rather large margin. He simply couldn't believe my "huge" bike would blow away his high dollar investment with such ease. Kinda funny....now he brags to his other HD buddies that he knows a guy with a Honda that will make fools of them. I tell them if you want power, finesse, and reliability.....buy a Honda. If you want noise.....buy a Harley. It's kinda fun once in a while. I still like to feel my oats from time to time, those oats have been cooking for a long time.

My neighbor, a snowbird from Boston area any I went to bike week this past February so on the way home he just couldn't stand it any more and had to see just how these flat sixes run, he was running a 13 or 14 103 road glide with after market pipes and a programmer, I think he was pretty confident that my old 97 cruiser wasn't going to be a problem for him! Wrong, coming home we stopped at a light with no traffic and he was ready so up to about a buck ten I was looking at him (in my mirror) needless to say he was not a happy camper, I guess he figured my pretty near twenty year cruiser should not have done that, oh well

That wasn't Murphy was it? No, one of my tech's from work, Bill P. Good guy, we always were drag racing leaving the airport at night. Used to out run the sportster , he traded it in for a fat boy, no contest there either.
