Well I had HRCA's roadside to assist me one time before they dropped the coverage.  I since dropped the HRCA.
I was stupid enough to "trust" Progressive Ins, when they told me I was covered for roadside assistance.  I did not look into what they "covered" with my motorcycle insurance policy.
Well I found out last weekend.  The coverage covers "15 miles".  What they think 15 miles is gonna do when your in the middle of nowhere like I was.
So I am in the market for more insurance.  What company are you using?  What is their coverage limits?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Ride safe

I had HRCA and Progressive, but when I got a flat tire one evening.... neither one of them could get me a tow til the next day.  I was PO'd and got a ride home to get my own truck/trailer.  But on the way back to the bike the following morning, someone called my cell phone and asked if the bike had plastic bags and fairing.....  HA I wouldn't have let them get my bike after that question anyhow.

I still have Progressive but have considered AAA with RV (close to 100 bucks).... but lots of tows.  Just a thought.....

I used AAA after I dropped HRCA.  It was the Premier RV coverage.  They covered up to 100 miles.  I used it when the pinion cup shredded.  They were as good as HRCA was.  (I used HRCA twice over the years ... one flat tire and one burned out alternator)

Good luck in your choice.

I have the AMA Towing service which is included in the $39 annual membership if you opt for auto renew. It covers all of your bikes as well as any cages you own. I had never used a roadside service in my life until this Summer when I needed a bike to be transported after a breakdown away from home. The truck was on the scene within an hour & the AMA called me to verify it had arrived. Even if you don't like the AMA, this service is well worth the $39. Coverage? I think they will transport your vehicle 30 miles for free, then it's your dime for additional mileage.

I use Rescue Plus from the GWRRA. I think it was $40 a year. They provide tow (50 miles I think), gas, and some maps to your destination if you allow them some time to gather them. My 2nd year with them and have never need them. Mainly got it for the trip out west.

I'm with GWRRA Rescue Plus too. And Fudgie....I'm pretty sure they went to 100 miles towing this year. I have used it once about 3 years ago.....good service from the 1-800 people and the local rollback operator.

I have 2 coverages,

AAA Plus for everything including my Trike,

AMA is my backup policy if AAA can't get me home without my dime being spent.

Actually forgot I had AMA till I got a notice telling me they were taking over MoTow.    Had MoTow for the Trike, as most motorcycle policies classified it as a car.

I just signed up with Honda Roadside Assistance at the Honda Dealership in LaCrosse, Wi.  It was $125.00 for 5 years and the only requirement was that you owned a Honda.  That breaks down to $25 a year. It should be available at any Honda Dealership.

My Progressive roadside assistance coverage states "towing of a covered disabled motorcycle to the nearest qualified repair facility".  If towed to any place other than nearest qualified repair facility, YOU will be responsible for any additional mileage charges incurred".

I would argue that a qualified facility would be a Honda shop.  I got a ride on a roll-off rig one time for 50 miles to a buddy's house.  He was 40 miles closer than the Honda shop (that would have been closed by the time I got there. . .and still wouldn't have the part needed).  Tow truck came from 50 miles away to find me.  Took me the 50 miles, even further from where he originated.  He had at least a 100 miles to go to get back to his home base.  That call cost somebody some bucks.  Didn't cost me a dime other than the $20 per year on the insurance policy.  Ymmv,

I have Rescue Plus with the GWRRA and have used them 3 times. I used it on my Tourer in Eugene, Oregon back in 2007 for a flat.. Called at 0930 and was in the Honda dealer around 1 hour later..for a tire change

In 2006 I used them for a flat on the tourer that I got on the NY State Thruway. It took about 1 hour for them to come and get me to the dealer......... for
a tire change

I used them or tried to use them in 2005 for a flat on my 1979 GoldWing in Mexico, Maine. It was a Sunday evening around 6 P.M. when they informed me that
they couldn't get anybody out to help me till Monday morning  Angry...Luckily I was able to flag down a driver of a flatbed who was able to help and get me to the local dealer........for a tire change on Monday morning

i use Dairyland...and they have towing service in their policy. that said, i've NEVER used any towing service. So far, the few times i've broken down over the years, i just got a ride back home and got my own truck and trailer and picked up my own bike and brought it to the dealer. but obviously, that means i've never been broken down FAR from home..............knock on wood............

I have the AMA and have had to use it once for my auto. Broke down on I-44 in Missouri and within 30 minutes they had a tow truck truck there who took my vehicle to the nearest town. Great service and no charge to me whatsoever. Prior to AMA I had AAA and used it twice and ended up paying for a part of the tow in both instances. AMA is my choice and the best part it is free as I am and have been a member of the AMA for 28 years.
