Hello guys, im in the process of researching to make my own headset for my bike, i've noticed that there is a push to talk button on the left sidecontrols, on the rear my bike came with no wiring (PO must have removed it) for the headset connection.

i've never used any kind of headset and im wondering if the intercom (my bike does not have CB module) uses the PTT or its just for the CB radio?

i was wondering if anyone here has a diagram to build an intercom headset like what kind of mic is needed and so..

any info will be appreciated.

The push to talk is just for the CB. I suspect your passenger headset connector is there somewhere. Probably hidden in the right side cover.

there was a connection but was home made and wired directly to the harness on the side cover (plastic connector is gone)

So, im seeing a ptt button for the passenger on the diagram but since i have no CB thats no use for it.

Can someone tell me how does the intercom works? does it detects when you're talking? does it have a noise canceling feature? What kind of mic is needed?

i have a cellphone helmet headset that i bought years back and never used, its got a ptt, mic and speakers, do you think that will work if i just wire it correctly to the bikes 5 pin connector?

It's just an open mike.  No detection of when you are talking or not so sometimes the road/wind noise can be picked up and transmitted through the intercom.

I've not used mine yet, but I understand that the above is how it works.

The passenger PTT is for the CB. For the passenger to be able to trigger the CB to talk. The drivers PTT is there on the front control.

i did removed the headset connectors too, but after a long distance trip with the wife i feel like it would have been nice to have it. being on the saddle for 14 hours a day get a little boring and keeping 75 on the highway with the helmets on its just impossible to communicate. now that most bluetooth solutions are very expensive and even the sierra headsets for the gl1500 are 85 bucks each. i think ill give it a try to build my own with the stuff i already have and spend almost nothing on it just a couple of bucks and a few time soldering wires to match the bikes pinout. i have already spotted the male 5 pin DIN plug to go into the bike for only 9 MXN thats half a USD, ill pick it up tomorrow and start working on it.

i already have 3 of this http://www.ebay.com/itm/171405474450 ill just use the speakers and discard the rest, for the mic ill use the same speakers as dynamic mics (suggested on the goldwing forum from a guy who did that and worked just fine) ill keep the PTT buttons in case i ever get cb module but i really see that a bit difficult.
