Got a new alternator from Rare Electrical. Pulled out the loaner alternator that my brother supplied. On the install of the new alternator lets say it gave me a few fits and reasons to reconsider if I ACTUALLY Know what the heck I'm doing!  Roll Eyes Every time I went to level it up and attempt the reinstall it would NOT level up.  Lips Sealed So I took a long hard look at what was keeping it from going level ! When looking at the back of the alt to the left of the plug was a bolt a bit longer than the rest of them BUT it was this bolt that was hanging up on the frame inboard of the swing arm pivot. After covering the back of the alt I shortened the offending bolt. NOW the cursed alt practically fell into proper alignment.  coolsmiley Oh=B T W-that new alt-13.2 volts at idle and 14.26 around 1400 R P Ms. Those readings according to my hand dandy Harbor Freight multi meter.  cooldude Some of Y'all gonna scream blasphemy. You AIN'T sposed to alter factory equipment!  uglystupid2 BUT the alt is in it's working I'm happy and I'll ride tomorrow!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Good work.  cooldude
I am sure that a few of us would also have the same problem trying to figure out the answer.

The PO had it there to keep the white plug seated as the clip was broken off, it stayed till i popped the zip tie over it but replaced it with the new plug.

sixlow-the very first picture!  cooldude BEFORE I cut the bolt on my new alternator I took a close look at the one I got from my brother last year. After I had cut the bolt I called my brother and mentioned what I had done-THEN he informed me THAT'S how he was able to install it so cursed quickly last year!  tickedoff ANYWHO-learning more bout my ride-and THAT'S a good thing!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

See the bolt holes the 2 on the left, (last pic) in relation to the stud for the main power connection, the GW is set up differently and accepts the new one here, Valk is the old one. There are 3 long Phillips head screws (very tight) that need to be removed and then the back rotates and nothing falls apart just spin it and put the 3 screws back in, they all line up and now it is configured for the Valkyrie set up. Easy peezy, and the screw that needs trimmed is only trimmed flush with the nut and that is all that is needed to make it slide in place.  cooldude

Look again, the back cover needs to be rotated  120 degrees clockwise.
