Firstly, all the work was done by and thus all the thanks go to Scott. Scott has been working on this for some time and the pressure both for and against his efforts have been significant.
It was time.
The new format should give us some respite from the constant deluge of processed canned meat. Those who have commented on wading through the spam have only seen the tip of the iceberg. We have been deleting hundreds of spam posts each day and have used blocking methods that at times interfered with legitimate postings. I'm glad for the change.
The new format is more flexible. It may not seem so at first, but once the new has worn off we may find ourselves doing things that we were not able to do with the older, much older, format.
The new board is less resource consumptive and its code is being updated and maintained by a large group of users.
With the new format it will be much more difficult for someone to spoof a legitimate poster. It was probably happening more often than most of us realized.
I want to express my sincere thanks to my good friend, Scott, for this implementation. I welcome any who feel likewise to join me in expressing appreciation to Scott, the man behind the fern.

from one who has gone through the "growing pains" of a VERY similar change over on the Rune board....where i am the Administrator....i'd ask that EVERYONE....give the VRCC Staff (Carl, Lori, Scott, Connie....et al)....time to absorb the changes that came with the new board. Sure, if you JUST MUST...you can make some negative comments.....IF YOU MUST. but give it a chance. Play with it. Try it out. Give it some time. Over on the Rune board, we heard all the "belly aching" that comes with ANY change. But in the end, 99% of the folks LOVE the new format (very simlar to this one, by the way) that we went to. Sure, we had many questions....and there IS a learning curve for many (some already know this format ...or one very similar to it). But once you get thru that learning curve...which will be short for some...a bit longer for some others....the vast majority WILL like this format. It has so much more capability....more flexible....in so many ways. So take a deep breath....give em' some time. And remember THIS....for every "trick" or "keystroke" us "masses" have to learn, the Admin/Moderator folks......the Scotts, Loris, Carls, Connies of the World.....have TEN TIMES more "tricks" and "keystrokes" to learn...to effectively moderate/run this board (oh how i know from my "world" over in "Runeland"...I'm STILL learning new tricks to run that board). And unlike us....if THEY make a mistake...they can effect MANY of us....even blow something out of the water. So they have even more pressure with the change. So....give em' a brake, how about it? Let it grow on you....and give THEM time to catch up with SOOOO much more than WE have to learn........... pretty please............ Your welcome Carl

My hat is off to all in the Administration, there's a lot of work involved that we don't even imagine. I would imagine there was a certain amount of courage also involved as I sensed a reluctance to change (now that's a masterpeice of understatement .) Thanks again Scott, Carl, Lori, Connie, and those I missed. Wayne

Thanks from me too! I can only imagine that Scott's brain has exploded by now! One word about change. As motorcycle enthusiasts, we all know that getting lost on rides can turn out to be the best part of the trip. Same deal here! Wandering around in the electronic hinterlands, I'm finding all sorts of gimcracks and geegaws that I hadn't expected to see today! Why, I even learned how to post pics with the help of some folks that went down that road earlier! Thats all! Mike out!

A big ole THANK YOU to Scott for all the time and effort he put into the new board. I never was that unhappy with the old one and didn't understand all the bitchin that went on about it. I mean, it don't cost us anything to come here. And the friends I've made and the things I've learned about maintaining and repairing my valk are worth way more than the effort it took to scroll thru a little spam. Never took more than ten seconds. Guess I just have a fast trigger finger. In fact when I first tried this one I didn't like it. Could not understand why some folks liked it better than the old format. But no way was I gonna bitch. Now that I have taken the time to learn how to do things. I'm liking it better all the time. Many things are easier on this format and I'm sure in time I'll find better ways to do the things I'm not liking right now. Either way, I am grateful for the VRCC and especially for the folks that keep this site up and running. Y'all rock!!

Thanks to Scott. He helped us change to the new format on the Texas board awhile back and the change was good. Everyone will get used to this format in short order. Thanks again......

Great job Scott! This has been along time coming and your time and effort is appreciated.
Thank you to the Admins that have kept the processed meat at bay for as long as you have.
I am looking forward to learning some of the new things I can do here ... as well as some of the old.

of course i too thank Scott....but...I also know FULL WELL...how much extra time and effort it will take ALL the Admin/Moderators who maintain the board...so....i have a funny feeling Lorie, Connie, Carl....maybe even OZ himself...are doing some remedial studying to catch up on the many EXTRA bells and whistles they TOO have to now deal with to run this "ship".....so ....thanks to ALL of you.........!

I frequent several different boards on a regular basis and I for the most part take them for granted. They just exist like air and water, right?? I know nothing about what it takes to provide this wonderful service but my hat is off to everyone involved. Thankyou, John

Thanks Scott for all your hard work. Carl, this color is hard to read on the light colored board option.
Tip to easily read the non-contrasting color .... highlight the text as if you were going to cut and paste it. It becomes quite visible. Takes very little time.

I'm sure many of us have no idea of the work involved in something of this nature, and to get pounded for trying to make a change for the better must hurt. But, we're family I guess, and sometimes Family smacks heads around, and later they end up having a beer together. Thanks for all the effort, folks.
P.S. Wheres the manual for this darn thing? (J.K.)

Good job Scott,Carl Lori,Connie and to anyone else involed in getting club board into the 21st Century. All I have to say to those that are having a hard time getting used to this new format. Give it some time. If you are not sure how something works just ask. Scott or someone else would be happy to help. Beside if old timers like my Dad and RJ can figure this thing out anyone can. Just kidding. Oh by the way Willow, Couldn't you have found a better picture of Scott without me in it....LOL.

Congrats on the new format. About time Make sure you keep all your patches updated on SMF. I had a site hacked bad when I let my gaurd down for just a few days. It was so bad that I converted all my sites to VB and for me it was the best move I could have made. This is a huge improvement over the old board and I'm sure you will see your site traffic pick up after folks get use to the new format.

Im one that dislikes change so if I can get used to this new fangled thing anyone can, sure it looks different and works different, but accomplishes the same thing and even more so whats there to not like
Thanks again and keep truckin!!!!
