....and it is minor.....but for the benefit of others who MAY have the same question.....here goes.

this format is just a little different than the format we use on the Rune board.

On that board, when i get done reading a thread/topic....i can hit a button at the bottom right that says "top"....and it will take me to the top of the page. I can hit "General" ...and it will take me back from the thread i was reading...to the General Forum page...which shows all the latest posts.

Further...and here is my question....probably a silly one....is there any way that when reading back thru the multiple pages of threads.....say you go back several pages.....pick a thread to read...say on page THREE for example. you read the thread, but when i'm done reading THAT thread, it takes me back to PAGE ONE of all the General threads. Is there any way or setting that i can get it to NOT take me back to page ONE. IE...if i'm catching up reading threads...haven't been on the board a few days...and i'm reading back multiple pages of threads...is there any way/setting that would allow me to, when finished reading my current thread, have it come back to the SAME PAGE i read that thread from (page 3...in this example)...instead of going back to page ONE...and making me "jump" back to page three again.........

Comprende?

Right now, the only way i found to do it, is to hit my BACK button on the web browser.

hope this makes sense. I've seen this on the VOA board...the few times i've vistited it. I figure it must be some OBVIOUS setting I'm just not familiar with....perhaps?

the Rune board is running vBulletin® Version 3.7.4, which is quite similar in many regards. But this one little thing i mentioned is one difference i've seen.........

But no big deal!

On posts that have multiple pages, numbers will be displayed next to the post title in the list.  Click the number and it opens that page in the post.

Hope that helps.

how about using the "jump to"  at the bottom of the posts - right hand side

Sorry,  just read your post again, this isn't what you wanted. Sometimes I will keep the main page that I'm on in one window and right click on message - open in new window - that I want to read then when done just close out the window of the message. That way you always have the same page you were on in front of you.

Not talking about that. i think most can figure that out....but i'm talking about now that we have SO many post...we have mulitple pages of THREADS/TOPICS. Like the first page....with my settings...has all the stickies... and about 20 or so of the most recent THREADS/TOPICS. you can open any of the threads you want...then go back to "General"...and you can see which other thread you want to open. BUT....and here is what i was talking about...once you read any threads you want to on the FIRST page...and click on ANOTHER PAGE of mulitple THREADS...like page two....you now see another 20 or so THREADS/TOPICS...and if you click on one and read it....when done...it takes you back TO PAGE ONE....INSTEAD of taking you back to PAGE TWO...in this example. I'm NOT talking about mulitple pages within a single THREAD/TOPIC......comprende NOW???

That just takes you back to page one....of that main forum. Doesn't take you back to THE PAGE ....you were on in that forum.

I have a feeling there is no "fix" for this one....or I would have probably already found it  Wink

At the top of the Topic/Threads page, you will have a page count of posts.  You can click the page number you want to go to there...but remember, replies to old posts makes the post jump back to the top of the list.

I tend to read the board by clicking the selection at the top "show unread posts since last visit" starting at the bottom and then move through them using the "previous" key.  As I go into each post it positions me right where I last read, or at least at the first portion that I haven't seen.

MOST DEFINITELY!!!  I tend not to use the previous key but only because I don't have to read every post like a moderator does.  Cheesy

ok....are you Moderators/Admin messin' with my mind? NOW....i DO see a "GO UP" buttton on the bottom left of a thread...and a "GO DOWN" button on the top left of a thread. That wasn't there BEFORE....was it SCOTT??? i don't think so. but it is NOW! that works like the other format i'm used to  Grin

Yea, i had tried the previous/next button too....but....unlike the Moderators on HERE...i don't have to nor want to read EVERY post! I do that on the Rune board. on here, i want to jump around.......

Thanks whoever put that "up" and "down" button on there...... Cheesy

Tim,
Below the navigation line and Ads by Google line is a line that shows where you are... you can click anywhere on that line to go back to where you want to go.

Clicking on the thread title takes you to the top of that thread, etc.

I also am finding things changing from the 1st time I looked at them. For example:  Psycho's post on seeing the old board go - I could see the avitar and his written post the first time (without a pic in the post).
Second time I could see avitar, written word and a pic in the post! I think I'm getting old and confused! Oh well, it keeps things interesting!

I'm the guilty party.  It was something I saw no value in, but obviously others do, so I turned that little feature on.
