For those of you that were at the last meeting, I told you of my battle with diabetes and my big toe.  This battle has been going on since Hot Glues BBQ. My big toe was looking much better when my second toe took a turn for the worse. Friday Sept 9 I will be going into the hospital to have my second toe amputated. I will stay in the hospital until Monday when they will get back the lab results to decide if they need to remove more. I’m a bit scared, so if you could keep me in your thoughts I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bob

Sorry to hear this, Bob. Take care of yourself, do what the doctors say, and get better soon. Be nice to your nurse, too!

You talkin bout the toes on your shiftin foot, or the brakin foot?? Brake side ain't too bad, if it's the other side maybe Rattlebars can make you a heel/stub shifter. cooldude cooldude

All kidding aside, I work in a busy ER where a majority of our chronically ill folks are diabetics who don't take care of themselves, so we get some pretty funky feet in here. After they take these toes off take care of yourself. Stay compliant with your meds and diet, exercise, hydrate, stay active and in shape. The better you take care of yourself, the more parts you can keep attached to you. You can be a healthy diabetic if you work at it.

Thanks for the concern guy’s! I am at home now. I go to the hospital every Monday, and have home health care Wednesday and Friday. So far this week I have been to the hospital every day. We still have not got back the bone biopsy on my big toe. I have been on antibiotics for six months now. Right now I infuse myself every eight hours (8,4, and 12). I will start another drug today that you put on for 12 hours, then remove it for 12 hours, and then repeat.
I have a knee scooter now as I am supposed to keep weight off my toe. My last lab results showed a high reading on my kidney test. I went to the hospital this morning for a retest. They just called and said it was back in the normal range. Yea! It’s nice to get some good news every now and then,
I will try to keep you up to date when I can!
Thanks again for the good thoughts,
Bob
