Nic, I can pm you if you'd like. Gary, Poppy G from down your way sent me a message and said he would like to come up for the ride. Has he reached out to you to discuss?

Sounds and looks like an awesome trip!! How many days are you planning? The round trip miles from Tampa, Fl are right around 1850.

Probably will be 3 to 4 days ? This will be a nice mellow pace along a scenic Hwy with lot's of places of interest. This will be my first ride on this road, but from what I here, it is absolutely beautiful in October.  cooldude

That's one of the rides on my so-called bucket list. However it doesn't look like it will be checked off any time soon. I've been through a portion of it and you're right...it's a great ride. To really enjoy it, don't take it on like it's a road race, you'll miss a lot and the trip will be a waste. Enjoy!  cooldude

This month's GWRRA Wing World rag has a number of rides shown in it, all in the W. Va., Tenn., Kent., Va. area taking all the local back roads through the Appalachians. The article goes into a lot of detail on highway numbers, things to see and do, places to stay, and gives a bit of history of some of the "stop & see" places. They're not all just a one day ride either, and the article shows each one laid out on a map. Later this Fall I'll bring it with me so everyone can see what I'm talking about. Then I can maybe make copies for those that are interested.

Man, if Laurie and I weren't going up to ride the BRP, Dragon and Cherohala next month I definitely would want to do this ride!
Looks and sounds amazing. Never heard of it till today.
We're leaving Sat Oct. 8th and coming back on the 15th. (Flying her up there and back).

If I could take more time off of work I'd go!  cooldude  cooldude

We did the Dragon and the BRP on the way home from Inzane again. My friend and others have been talking about this Ride, and I figured Oct and the colors and cooler weather would be a nice treat cooldude

Very tempting Nick.

Don't know if I can pull it off but maybe if I start lining everything up now.

It should be a really nice ride  cooldude

Great talking to you Nick. Right now there are 4 of us up this way planning on going. Could be maybe 1-2 more if Jeff- Christj vrcc makes this trip instead of his Daytona ride. It will be a great fall ride all the way up to Nashville. The RattleSnake Saloon that I mentioned to you we visited and would like to stop there on the way home. It's outside a small town in AL off the Natchez Trail heading home. They have a Lodge there also and their website is sevenspringslodge.net
Looking forward to this ride, Jack & Pappy it'd be great if it works out for you guys to come up with Nick!  coolsmiley

For Lesa and I it might be a good chance to see the Barber Museum as well on the way back.

Just want to clarify some things about this ride, as people have been asking me questions. This started off as me and a friend were going to do this run to Natchez Trace and kinda wing it.

Me and Pappy had plans to head up to Big Mikes place end of October but Mike is leaving for the Great Lakes ride with other friends he rides with. So that left the end of October open and this came up instead.

I posted it here to see if any of the FL clan wanted to tag along, as this 450 mile stretch of road is supposed to be real Purdy in Oct. Friday October 28th was going to be the day we were leaving, but after talking to Keith, we may leave a day early on Thursday 27th.

This will get us up in the Panhandle take a room that night, wake up Friday morning, meet up with Keith and friends for breakfast then head out on the trail.

Keith said we would ride the trail as far as Vicksburg Mississippi then stop over for the night. Keith also said it was a very historical place with lots to see. If I remember my History correctly, The Siege of Vicksburg was a major Confederate stronghold.

From there we are going to kinda  wing it in a fairly mellow pace. This is a No Rush kinda  trip, taking in as much of the Historic stops along the way and enjoying the beautiful foliage along the ride.

We will wind up somewhere close to Nashville on Saturday, maybe take a few days in the area and check out the local roads. Plan on heading back probably Monday morning after breakfast. Keith was talking about a pretty cool place for a stop over on the way back.

I think he said it was a Restaurant/ Bar/Grill place in Tuscumbia Alabama called Rattlesnake Saloon. Sounded pretty interesting (Google It) We will probably head home from there, maybe taking a room somewhere between there and the house, and roll in Tuesday  sometime?

Just wanted to put this out there, nothing along this ride is in stone. We may wind up somewhere else along the trail, but the trail from end to end is the objective  cooldude

Damn,
Completely forgot about that post and those dates!
Hopefully can work something out with Laurie's brother for Friday. They're going back to Myrtle Beach on Friday.
Laurie is scheduled to fly back on Saturday, but going to see about possibly changing the date if no penalty. Would love to meet up with the group for a least one day!

I'll look into it and keep you posted.

Would be nice to ride back with you Rick!

BTW, sorry I had to miss your Fish Fry. Got married in May and Laurie and I have been working on the house damn near every weekend. Haven't had time for any riding at all.  Sad

Hopefully can make the next group get-together.

Ok, I hate to change the date but out of my hands.  Lips Sealed I didn't want to start a new post just up date Broxboy's post. The date is firm now for a Nov. 4-8, leave Milton,FL early Friday 6am. Return home the afternoon of the 8th. All those that were planing on going from up in the Pan-handle are good with the date. So it's looking like 4-5 confirming to go at this time.  coolsmiley
