Hello
Has anyone trailered their Valkyrie 1800? I have a upcoming  road trip and would like to start making some plans. Riding the Valkyrie 1800 is out of the question because of time constraints. I have already checked with Uhaul on their motorcycle trailer seeing what's  available . It's $15.00 plus insurance for a day. My concern is primarily securing the bike with so much plastic . I also did a search for those who will say do a search and I will be able to find some answers. Well, the searches didn't  include the Valkyrie  1800 only the 1500 . Thanks. ......

On an earlier Goldwing I made some tabs with holes for tie downs that attached using the pinch bolts on the lower fork tubes.
Worked like a champ and were on the bike when I sold it.

Get yourself a good set of Bar Harnesses and a couple soft ties along with 4 500lb. straps.

Use the bar harness to keep the front wheel from turning when strapped. Then pull your side covers and run the soft ties around the frame and synche them bike down from here pulling side to side and towards the front of the trailer.

I hauled my Valkyrie from St. Louis to West Virginia and back for Inzane this year. This included the trailer whipping totally out of control due to my wife sleeping at the wheel and the bike never moved.

I towed my Valk from NC to AZ in Sept. on a Razor trailer. I use a front wheel Condor Chock to lock the front wheel, this thing works great, they are about $200ish. I then Hooked ratchet straps to each engine guard and pulled forward, then hooked a ratchet straps to each passenger foot rest bracket and pulled slightly to the rear. The condor is bolted to the trailer but doesn't need to be.

I removed the windscreen glass and my saddle bags and top box, I did get a small paint chip on the front fender, I wished I taped it up with blue masking tape, I will next time. Be careful of Bar Harnesses, they can pull the bars and loosen the straps, make sure the handlebar clamps are TIGHT. Please don't ask how I know this.

Wasn't sure if I still had the photo but I found it, this is my bike right from the factory. You can see how they secured it and maybe you can get an idea and setup something similar. I lift the bike on the front crash bars so I know that is one good location and maybe you could get a chock for the front wheel and then the tie downs. The rear swing arm or like they have in the pics the rear seat support.

Pete, Dragunslayer,Hungryeye, and Robert

Many" THANKS" for your responses and the  much appreciated information.  I still have  a couple  of  2 inch ratchet straps and will go to Harbor Freight  someday this week to start getting  my game plan together purchasing the soft ties.  A picture is worth a thousand words as they say......thanks Robert. I haven't  seen a Valkyrie 1800 set up in the shipping  container at dealer because they were already assembled on the showroom floor . I think the Uhaul trailer is my best bet. It has the indentation  where the front tire slips into and can be strapped inside also using the crash bars. I'll  also use the passenger pegs at the rear on both sides . Last week on my way to work I saw a guy with a Hayabusa strapped to a trailer at a gas station. He had it strapped well front and back. I should  have taken  a picture for reference. He even strapped across the seat from side to side. I have a Corbin dual tour so to keep from damaging the seat I'll  put to factory seat back on. So, THANKS again to all who responded.

Just a suggestion but the rear grab rails could make good anchoring points or leave the seat off and use the frame at that point.

Well I am not going to say it can't be done, but personally I would not use the crash guards or the passenger pegs as well.

They may work and the factory  may use them as well, but that semi rides a lot smoother than any trailer I have hauled.

I should add that I did have an Harbor Freight wheel chock for the front wheel as well.

Can't be done? I did it 4 weeks ago, 2100 miles, solid as a rock. I also was a heavy haul independent trucker for 30 yrs, never once had any machine slide off my detachable gooseneck trailers. Will return my Valk to NC in April using the same proven method. Last year I did the same round trip with an 09 Super Glide.

The passenger peg mount bracket are solid, a typical tie down strap hook will slip over the bracket and the peg keeps it in place. Each strap is only holding less than 250 lbs. A Harbor Freight wheel chock is not a Kondor Chock, far from it.

My Kerry was hauled professional to my home via simi .

They used  tip over bars  and something else   , do not remember

Do  you plan on tilting the over over on kick stand  and  tying    her down , or straight up vertical ?????

It can easily be done! Next time I might try the crash bars but I've always preferred putting weight on the front forks to really bite in. Make sure not to go so hard you blow your forks out!

Maybe you should reread my post. I specifically " I AM NOT GOING TO SAY IT CANT BE DONE " .

You can haul your bike however you choose but I can guarantee the frame will NOT GIVE.

30 years does not mean you are right, and I never claimed to be right, just that I would not choose those points for tying down my bike for the log haul.

To each his own....
