Upon Duckwheat's suggestion, this thread is about probable routes from your home state to Michigan which has been tentativley ID'd as ground zero for Inzane X. Avoiding those states that are not 2nd amendment friendly is important to some of us. I personally avoid traveling or doing any business in a state that denies their citizens the rights guaranteed under the constitution. I'm in Texas, a very pro-2nd amendment state. Texas recognizes any CCW permit issued by any state that reciprocates that same right to Texans. My route to Michigan will be from Houston to Arkansas, then Tennessee, head north to Kentucky , through Indiana and then Michigan. Perhaps others will post their possible routes to Michigan for others in their state to plan accordingly. Here's an Amazon.com link to the book I used to plan my route based on other states CCW laws. $11 Bought mine at my CCW renewal class yesterday. http://www.amazon.com/Travelers-Guide-Firearm-Fifty-States/dp/0972548912/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254697105&sr=1-1

You'll be fine in IN and KY. Also no helmet laws for adults.

Hey don't take this wrong but 99.99999% of us can travel across the country without having to draw down on anyone en route. I did manage 600 miles just today in 3 states and didn't see any pistoleros anywhere. I'm glad your packing heat but come on, it's a motorcycle rally your going not a war plan. I'd worry more about the silver hairs in Indiana than anything else, they'll take ya without ever even seein' ya. Trust me, once you get north of Texas things calm down quite a bit. However, the bumble bees can be nasty in Iowa. You might need a good .22 stinger round ready. Raymond

I already have my route programmed in Zumo. Duckwheat had suggested this thread, and I thought it was worthwhile. And to quote Willow.."Helmets and guns have something in common,, if you ever really need one and don't have it, you'll never need one again",,,,

Growing up we all had shotguns in the window of our trucks. I don't carry when I go West (thx Ill!) but do everywhere else.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the 2nd amendment applied to the entire USA like the rest of the constitution does? Can you imagine a state or county/city preempting the constitution …say.. the 19th amendment (women’s right to vote) ? revoking a woman’s right to vote??? All Hell would break loose… yet, a fundamental right guaranteed in the Bill of Rights can be denied. I just don’t get it! Anyway… go to each state’s web site and look at their laws. Print out their page and carry them with you. http://www.nraila.org/recmap/recguide.pdf

Jammer. Avoid Illinois and Wisconsin they are anti-gun states. Indiana honors every states permit. If you have a permit to carry in your home state you can carry in Indiana......

I'm 55 and grew up in Los Angeles and lived most of my life in SoCal and NEVER have had an occasion where a firearm would have been necessary.I haven't needed a firearm since I left the military.By the way,I also have a concealed weapons permit but I don't carry one when I'm enjoying the day on a bike ride. It's more about political activism in my opinion. I agree with him. I try to not support people, or actors or states that step on, what I believe to be fundamental rights. It's hard sometimes... I really like Heinz catsup... but I just can't give those people any of my $$.
I concur with everyone else on here from Indiana. We welcome your gun toting ass in our state. (And your $$ too while you're on the way thru.) When you're coming thru next year... let me know and I'll throw a bruger down your neck, and offer you a cot if'n you need one.

What a priority for a motorcycle ride. Perhaps you've misunderstood what I meant. "Carrying" is not a priority to go on a MC ride. It's a priority prior to leaving the house, regardless of my mode of transportation. I do all my riding away from the house, therefore when I ride the Valk, I'm carrying. I'm also carrying if I ride a horse, drive the car or pickup or the 18 wheeler. The only relevance the Valkyrie has, is which weapon(s) do I choose and where do I carry them concealed within the riding gear I've chosen for that ride. And like you, I too have not needed to draw my personal weapon but at least I have one (or more) if I "really need one". Thanks Willow,,,, Oh yeah, and I also wear a helmet in case I "really need one" of those too. I suppose I'm just paranoid... But even if you'd consider me paranoid, you can't call me unprepared.
