Good thing INZANE is not close. Seems to me there are many ways around that place, you do not even have to go through it if you do not want to.

Go this way!

Highly recommended.

Above the deep.

Apparently they don't want you to turn around and do it again.

Only when I had the camera in my hand.

Actually, the concrete side was closed slightly after that shot.

Valks don't care about grates anyway...smooth and fast.

Just a counterpoint to KW. Detroit like all major cities has its good points as well as its bad. Thinking that things haven't changed from ten years ago just underscores why alot of michiganians feel the way you do. I live 30 miles north of the city. We visit there all the time. Detroit has a terrific entertainment center. It has the Tigers and the Red Wings and yes, even the Lions. Ask the people that visited the city for the Final Four last year what there impression was. Or the Super Bowl the year before. I sent my son to college in the city. Wayne State is on Cass avenue. Not one problem in four years. I would hate to "scare" people away from a trip to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village because parts of the city are in disrepair. Having said all that, from a geographic standpoint Detroit probably won't be "on the way" to Inzane for alot of folks anyway, but a Tigers game in mid July, fireworks afterword, and dinner in Greektown just may be worth the extra miles.
I can't wait to seeya all up at Shanty Creek, truly a great spot for a great club to have a great party.

Ho rah! Michigan.  Been a Michigander all my life.  Born in Marquette (Yooper), graduated from NMU and moved to the Lower Peninsula and became a "Troll" when I started teaching high school.  The best state to enjoy the four seasons - although somethimes winter is longer then the other three put together.  The greatest views ever.  We live in Boyne City (25 minutes from Bellaire-Shanty Creek). I can go for a ride and an hour and 30 minutes later I have already visted three of the great lakes and on the journey I have crossed numerous rivers, inland lakes, small town, ice cream stops and I did most of this ride on county roads NOT I-75 Interstate.

Welcome to all, if you live in Michigan you know what I am talking about.  If you haven't been here before = your in for a treat.  Oh - I almost forget--don't forget to have a PASTY when you get here, you won't regret it.

It warms my heart to see all positive feedback about our beautiful state of Michigan. I couldn’t agree more with those from Michigan who have commented.

I’m a born and raised Michigan girl, with southern roots; my folks were born and raised in the south then moved to Michigan in the 50’s where the jobs were at the time. Anyway, I love our state for the four seasons, the beauty of our great lakes and our cultural diversity. Here in Lansing we’re near Michigan State University where the Wharton Center for Performing Arts is located; where you can see a Broadway play, comedian or music concerts of all genres. You have the big and the smaller “home town” cities.

I would like to throw in my two cents about Detroit. Unfortunately the city gets a bad wrap. When I began working with my company back in 2001 I began traveling the eastern US, which includes Detroit. We have a location in the heart of downtown. I’ll be honest the thought of that first trip made me a little nervous. I had no reason at all. I’ll admit being a woman alone at night I wouldn’t walk to streets; I wouldn’t do that in any city away from home. I stay at a hotel also in the heart of downtown within walking distance of the office. The People Mover is awesome; it’s a railed car around the downtown area. Greek town is great too. It not only has the casino and Greek food it has other ethnic foods as well. My last trip I ate at an awesome Thai place.  Detroit is the home of the Detroit Redwings, Tigers, Lions and Pistons; Three of which play in the downtown area.

I can’t wait for everyone to see your beautiful state; especially the areas around and where InZane X will be held. You’ll in awe; I know I am every time I’m there.

Have a great weekend everyone.

P.S.

I've seen the guy with the sax.  An awesone sound as you're walking out of the Greektown casino or area restutrant.

Just had to add that.

To Caroline, Gary and Timber - you really do appreciate that sax. Especially WHERE he is playing, there are several tall cement walls around the area, and his tunes just resonates from all directions - he is really very talented.

But to all others, yes - Detroit has its' better and poorer points, just like EVERY CITY does.

But I don't know WHY we keep bringing up Detroit anyway, it has NOTHING to do with IZX, not even close to the area where we'll be riding. At Shanty Creek, you'll pull away from your room, ride thru the parking areas, and in 300' - you'll be riding thru forested 2-lanes, absolutely gorgeous.

I posted awhile back, PLAN ON STAYING at SHANTY CREEK for the FULL FOUR DAYS - you will want ALL of them, there will be THAT MUCH to do !!!!

Stitch is right.....Shanty Creek and Detroit might as well be on opposite sides of the earth. When in this part of Michigan, one doesn't even know Detroit exists.

. . ....I agree with Stich on this one....if you,re comming from the Ohio state line....you,ll pass by Detroit....Saginaw....Ann Arbor.....major traffic flow....lots of.."people".....then you,ll slowly start to cruise through scenic farm land....lots of open land.....then into the woods....and that,s when you begin to enter Northern Michigan...you,ll see nothing but woods for 2 hours, with exits off the Interstate for tiny towns tucked out of site....Detroit is over 3 hours away from Shanty Creek...and the difference is like night and day......and if you,re comming from the top of Michigan through Wisconsin...well....you,ll be comming through the UP.....you,re already in heaven....course...you might have to put up with that....Black Dog Character....thats his stomping ground..  Cool
