IMHO, mounting them there on the guards (just outboard of the pods), or down on the front brake calipers is best.  I have a pair mounted on the fork wings (just a single hole with small screw/nut for each)  At any of these locations, small lights are essential.

Mounting extras anywhere up by the headlamps may add more light, but you do not get the separation of lights visible to traffic ahead which is so good for daytime running safety.  Mounting them on bottom of the triple tree may hit the fender in a big fork compression.

If you use the engine guards, remember to consider what will happen in a tip over.  If they will hit in a tip over, you mounted them poorly.

Those look really good. I considered mounting those in the pods but then was able to score a OEM fog light set up. Let me tell you cutting holes in perfectly good PODs in really nerve racking.

Those look outstanding, the comment about separation of light is a good point. I also have a headlight modulator that has saved me twice already in the city. I think having solid on lights with separation is important.
