Maybe Arc Welding  a piece onto  the engine guard  for  some added  additional lights .

I am wondering , though , could there be possible damage to the electrical system  or any damage anywhere from arc welding  ??

Thanks

Would not be a good choice if you want to retain the original finish on the crash bar. Just for a point of information welding will usually not hurt the electrical system but as a precaution you could disconnect the battery. Welding requires good contact with the metal being welded so the finish on the bar would have to be removed in the spot to be welded. The bars are pretty easily taken off also.  Not to mention  they make many round clamps that could nicely fit around the bar and serve to support a light. A small hole drilled in the bar with one of these clamps would assure they would not slip. I dont think it would be an issue but its just an idea.

Just a Google search on crash bar clamps

I agree with Robert.  There are other options other than welding.

Also, I used my mig welder to do a quick fix on my handlebars last year and I didn't have any electrical issues.

If you do decide to weld something on your bars, just make sure the area of your bike near the welding is protected with nonflammable material, or you may get burn marks on the paint, etc or your bike could catch on fire possibly.  I would take the bars off to weld the pieces on just to be safe.

Thanks guys
I have considered taking it off , but , from my angle of view , I could not see how to do this .
I guess I will need to get closer to the floor , perhaps on my hands and knees to see better . Roll Eyes

I have thought of u-bolt type stuff , but , you know welders , one track mind .

It may be best that I look into a better solution , such as what Robert suggested

Here's what I am adding to the engine guards , one on each side .
Part turn signal and part head light .
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UK46YEM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am using Skene light   controller  to control  the head light and turn signal
They have some amazing safety effects built into the controller
Luckily , the turn signals work in unison with the OME  turn signals

Does anyone know the  outside diameter of the engine guards ??

Thank you

Kidd,

Those lights are about 8" long.  I don't think they will fit.  Not to mention how bright they are.  You will blind oncoming traffic.  ???

Yes , you may be  right on both accounts  .
However , Skene makes a controller that dims  lights that are too bright as in leds  such as the ones I am installing .http://www.skenedesign.com/lights/IQ_275.shtml

Also ,  I have added a piece of amber lens to the turn signal so it blinks amber , reducing the brightness of the led .
And , yes , you may be right on the darn size of the light bar  , I can place it vertical  if horizontal  sticks out too far  , the size of the light bar may make me look silly .
That same type of  light bar comes in 1/3 and 2/3  smaller size  , maybe use  the 2 smaller ones .

I asked  Jerry of Skene lights  if he can program the controller  to kill the added head light when the turn signal comes on  and he told me the headlight and turn signal blink at the same time for more added  visibility  which is why I am doing this , but  still , it'd be kool  if the headlight did go off during
turn signal activation .  I have seen this on many newer   cars with led  accent  lights

I put a set of the smaller lights on my wife's last Can Am Spyder and they were pretty bright.  She got flashed by oncoming traffic all the time when she had them on and I had them pointed slightly towards the ground about 200 yards ahead of her.  The small ones are about 3"x3".

I am not sure how you would be able to use part of the lights as a signal without opening them up and rewiring.  There is only 2 wires that come out the back of them.

You are right , that's precisely what I did , I had to buy the smaller lights and harvest the led circuit board
to place into the larger one
