I cleaned my K&N filter one day, went to get the K&N oil.
Bummer, I was out. I did not feel like driving 20 miles to get oil.
Heck, I got 3 dirt bikes, all have foam filters that are oiled.
So I grabbed the air filter oil, oiled the filter. Let it set about 1 hr. Then placed back in bike...
Did not take the Valk out that night, but my BMW.
The next day took the Valk out... She would run fine, until I would get over about 3300 RPM...
She was smoking, smell raw fuel. Dang....
Anywho, the problem?
The Foam air filter oil was THICKER than the K&N oil....
Cleaned filter..... drove the 20 miles... got the correct oil...... Life is good again

I went through the carbs today, they were very clean except for some fine dust like material in the fuel bowls. I cleaned and blew out all the passages even though they looked great.
I replace the intermediates (pilots), mains and installed an OEM air cleaner (with gasket) and now it runs great!

You can see the fine dirt in the bowls, no parts had been cleaned at this point.

great pic of how the bowl vent tubes are to be installed which IMHO prevents hydro-loc.

No foam pre-filter on the OEM set-up except for European models.
