Hi all, 1997 Valks shifts perfectly at low rpms but, wants to kick back the shifter under high acceleration. The bike has 55,000 miles. Could a malfunctioning slave cylinder cause this? Thanks for any help. Tony A.

Sorry, I do not understand this Kick Back description?

Are you saying it shifts out of gear?

Yes, unless you are "forcefully" shifting into gear, it can (mine will) shift out.

Others have talked about preloading the shifter with your foot, before pulling on the clutch lever.

I've added the heel-toe-shifter to both a Valk and GW, and within a week, removed each. Love the shifter on my other V-twins, but on the GL1500, I was missing shifts, and having it pop out of gear toooo often to keep it.

Flush out all the old brake fluid and flush with rubbing alcohol. Purge all that out and rebleed with new DOT4 fluid. I've been doing this for several years on systems where I find very dirty old fluid.

if you are too fast with the clutch it will do this.
I am a "preloader" If I am looking for fast acceleration I load the shifter before I pull the clutch  then it is just a quick in and out.
if you miss it it will bounce out of gear.  You cannot be lazy with it.  if there is any tension on the gears  it will be difficult to shift.

Thanks all for your help. I will try these solutions including rebuilding the slave cylinder. Sometimes it misses 2nd gear and , then with just a little click of the shifter it goes right into gear. Thanks again for the info.

I just bought a 1500 recently with 44K and noticed that I had difficulty getting it into second gear, the problem was the angle of the shifter, I just did not have much pull at the extremes of my ankle movement so I lowered the shifter one notch and the problem was solved...
