Any ideas or tricks that work to replace rubber/poly bushings at home?  Searched you tube but bushings on those are bigger from side to side or they don't have the lip that my replacement bushings have.

All ideas and help are appreciated.

Cut the old ones out. Use some WD40 silicone spray on the new ones and use a vise clamp to press them in.

2 sockets and a vice. One socket to fit around the bushing on the shock mount on one side, a smaller socket on the other side, small enough to fit through the shock mount and push the bushing out and into the big socket on the other side. If you don't have a vice, a bigger c-clamp would work, but might require a second set of hands.

To get the new ones in, just use the vice.

FYI, WD-40 is the trademark name of a penetrating oil and water-displacing spray.
Is not a very good lubricant. Water Displacement(WD) Oil will destroy your rubber bushings.
Never spray it on your gun collection either.

Use silicone spray or dawn dish soap.

I find the only reason to have WD-40 in my garage is for killing wasp or ants when used with a bic lighter.

my 2 cents

I recently found a good set of Interstate rear shocks for my Tourer and replaced the bushings with neoprene ones from Redeye before installing them. I saw some youtube videos of guys building special jigs to remove and install them....on and on. I pushed out the old bushings with a pair of pliers, lubed the new ones with silicon and pushed them in with my fingers. Maybe I don't know my own strength but man it was not hard. Sometimes there's too much drama over small stuff. Smiley It's just a bushing, you'll figure it out.

Harry, you're correct.

I think about it too much and with being stuck inside and no heat in garage tendencies  lean towards OCD  thinking.

Lol   haha
