I want to do a Supervalk, but I am not sure of the seat to use. Will a seat from a Standard work ok? Will there have to be modifications? Also, most likely I will not keep the trunk, so should i get rails from a Standard and put them on?

Thanks

Yes I have an early single seat off a 98 standard on my "SuperValk" and I have mounted the passenger seat also when carrying a passenger.

I have not tried the later standard seat, it also will mount but may rest on the gas tank differently.

Any valk driver's solo will fit, but some will be snug to the larger interstate tank.  Mustang is the only seat seller that does not distinguish it's driver's solos between interstates and stds/tourers.  If it's snug, just add a strip of clear tape to the tank rear, to keep from rubbing the paint (over time).

My supervalk (technically a trunk-less interstate, since it is not convertible) has the standard/tourer fender struts (without interstate uprights).  Actually, they are the aftermarket Cobra fender struts, but identical mounts to OE std/tourer struts.  Nice clean look. (and having all the trunk mount hardware will make your trunk worth more to sell)

You're also going to need a std/tourer taillight to stick into the interstate fender knockout.  Beware that other (used) honda tail lights will fit, but only the lens is identical.... the other model honda tail light hardware is not a correct fit for the Valk (like from the Saber).  They have been made to work, but I don't know what they had to do. I added this to my trunked interstate years ago, and the whole parts list of new honda parts, including two partial wiring harnesses (only needed one), was only about $135. I may still have this parts list if you need it.

If you still have the parts list that would be most helpful.

(old post, old prices)

http://forums.delphiforums.com/valkyrie/messages/?msg=11596.1

And check here:

http://www.procaliber.com/oemparts/a/hon/506cb620f870023420a41754/wire-harness

And if you want more than an 1157 bulb.  https://www.amazon.com/Radiantz-Tail-Light-Honda-Shadow-Valkyrie-VTX/dp/B000TK8LY8

And as far as bulbs go, the 2357 is the same as the 1157 when using run light but much brighter when using the brake light filament of the bulb.  But, on a 1157 bulb the brake light filament lasts about 1500 hours and the much brighter 2357 brake light filament will last only about 120 hours.  (copied)

Also, you can add decent light to the rear with an LED license plate frame (wired in together with the tail light).  Run, or run/brake.  I run a single row on the bottom, but you can get rows on top and bottom.

Thanks Jess for the info.

I found a good tail light for 60 bucks on ebay and have ordered the wiring harness for it. I guess the next thing is to find some decent Standard rails and a solo seat. I can't afford a nice seat at this time so I will use a stock seat.

The license plate covers are a great idea I didn't think of.

I use the post 2000 Standard seat on my Super V..... I had an older one, but there is a great comfort different in the newer seat.... you can still get  brand new one for like 90 bucks......

And I think the newer version look better also

Got my solo seat yesterday. Too bad for me that I didn't see the post about new seats costing 90.00. What I got is a good one though.
