Well, this is my first post. I'll see if it comes through. Count me in also. I don't like this one bit. Too damn hard to read. Guess I will have to find something else to do besides reading all the posts when I get home from work. Something I have done for 8 years. I can't understand why people like this.

While I'm more familiar with the layout of the old board, this one does seem more "up to date". It'll take some getting used to...especially trying to follow along with a thread. I sure ain't gonna back down from a challenge like this....besides, it's the only game in town.

My first post also, if it goes through. Not real crazy about this board either, but like they say, change is good. Just hope this ol' dog can learn some new tricks. I am not very computer literate.

Hay Dude, you can change the color to anything that trips your fancy......... We like it because it is SPAM free, and you can do so damn many different things with it. It is just plain easier to use, and if this old fart can learn, you can also.... So, get to playing. Converse with Black Dog, he is havingfun with it......

This old dog is one of the oldest in the Club and I made the transition with no real pain............ I like the new format. Set it up right and it isn't really too much different from the old one as for viewing threads..

Newer aint better, old aint either. We complained about spam, and the need to get rid of it, and we got what we got. Right now I'm trying to figgure some things out and I'm sure we'll all get the hang of it. I just wish I knew how to track a thread better (Like this one) and from what I see, the start of new topics go to the rear (?). Oh well.

I learned a lot from Scotts earlier post. A few tips « on: Yesterday at 09:51:19 PM » Reply with quoteQuote Don't like the dark background of this theme? You can change to the default light colored theme in your profile:
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Current Theme: Click CHANGE
Selet the SMF Default - Core theme "Use This Theme"
Would you like to sort the board by the date a Thread was started, instead of last post in a Thread?
Click on the header, "Started by" TWICE....
Are you enjoying a particular thread, and want to keep track of new posts in that thread?
While viewing the thread, click on Notify. Its right next to the Reply Button. To unsubscribe to a thread, go to: Profile -> Notifications and Email
Suggestion for keeping up with new posts.
Once I've read the threads I'm interested in, I click the "Mark Read" Button. That marks all threads as "Read". Now when I come back, only threads with new posts will be marked as new. This also helps you use the "Show unread posts since last visit." up at the top of the page. Everyone has their own method, this is just mine...
Wanna see who's replied to YOUR posts?
Try the "Show new replies to your posts." link way up at the top of the page.
When you post a topic or reply....
Don't forget the "Additional Options". Notification of replies is in there...
Edit your Profile!
Go to: Profile -> Forum Profile Information
Fill in the details. Put your birthday in, and it will show up on the calendar.
Upload an picture for an avatar. Add a signature. Tell us where you're from...etc
Feel free to add your tips.....
-Scott

New topics don't go to the rear, they go on top. However, if someone posts a response in a thread it bumps it back to the top. Also the Admin "sticy notes" are always on top.
