Hey All,

Finally got down to TN and was able take the Valk out for a few days of riding.  I am thinking of making one of my spare keys and put some type of knob on it.

Problem is, I forgot to measure the length I need to cut the key to be sure I can open the tank and lock the bags.

I understand that ignitions can be slightly different, but could those that have successfully done this mod measure their key up to where it would be inserted into the knob?

Thanks for any help!

I just put a spare key in the slot and marked it with a marker the ground it down to the mark , leaving a flat post sticking up. Got knob from Lowe's and milled it out a little then JB weld the 2 together.

Yep, that is my plan...problem is, I didn't mark my key before I made the 1000 mile trip back home.

I don't have locking bags but I can measure my key and let you know. It works on ignition and tank just fine.

It's exactly 1 1/8 " from base of knob to the tip of key.

I don't have bags to unlock, but mine measure exactly one inch from base of knob to end of key. Works fine in gas tank and ignition.

Here's the KeyMod I did, but understand it only works in the ignition, but I always travel with spare keys anyways so I went with it.

Dont have a tape measure handy but it is the same as a U.S. quarter. Works in ignition and gas cap but not seat. My bags are keyed different so i always have the original on that key ring if i need under the seat
