How hard is it to remove the drive shaft from the pinion cup?
When I was replacing my u-joint I gave the drive shaft a good tug and it did not budge.
It has what looks like plenty of grease, it actually looks wet, I felt no perceivable play between these two pieces.

Takes a good shock yank on the drive shaft. First, make certain the final drive is over something soft so it won't crack or be damaged when it drops. I often just go out in the yard and let it drop on the grass. Grab the DS with both hands, hold it up vertical with the final below, then give the shaft a good yank. Might take more than one but it will pop out and the final will drop to the ground.

I'm just not pulling hard enough, I had no idea how it was assembled and like I said I was in to replace the u-joint and since everything looked OK (I had seen what one looks like dry) I did not put much into it.
next time in  and now that I know what to do I will clean and inspect it, plus make sure the oil holes are clear.

The manual does not tell you this, thanks for the help...
