For the last few months, photo bucket isn't receiving the pictures I upload.
Their support has been underwhelming, just saying they're aware of the problem and are working on a fix.
Can anyone suggest another site, or is there a way to post pictures here directly from any of my Apple products (iPad, iPhone or MacBook Pro?)
TIA

I'm also about ready to give up on them. It's a real problem sometimes to log in and sometimes to try to upload. No answer for you from me.

My wife told me the girls were discussing this at Hillbilly Highway 3 ride and were planning to upload photos to Facebook for this ride. They say it's easier to upload to the VRCC page than Photo Bucket. Dan

I use shutterfly. It's free and easy. Facebook is also easy, but to continue to use this fantastic forum, you will need to upload the pics somewhere else and then link here and Shutterfly is good.

I use google sites. Click on this link to see how easy it is to organize stuff: https://sites.google.com/site/hubcapsite2/Google sites is kind of open-ended, you don't use it a particular way, you mold it and form it into whatever you need it to be. I make a "site" (like hubcapsite2) and then make new "web page" for each topic as they come up. I don't do anything on each web page but upload pictures. -Mike

A short explanation for what its worth.
The method we use for displaying pictures in a post does not upload but links. That means the picture will only appear on the VRCC message board so long as it exists from its source. That method was chosen because it does not occupy space on the board for pictures and thus allows us to hold onto posts for many years back in the rather limited space that we rent.
Long ago Scott added the option to upload (attach) pictures on the Classifieds board. We're still concerned about how much space graphic items (pictures) take on the board so pictures attached are limited to 1024K. That's fairly good size but is less than most cameras and phones store these days. You will probably need to reduce a copy of the picture on your machine before attaching.
Sometime back that function was extended to the other boards.
The picture attached here was taken on my iphone. I reduced it using Microsoft Paint image "Resize" by percent.

Hey Willow Paint works easy enough to resize, but how do you copy & paste to this site? Seems to work pasting to anywhere but here.

The method we use for displaying pictures in a post does not upload but links. = no copy and paste. You have to post your picture some place else, and then link to it. Here is a picture that is posted somewhere else (on my google sites page)... you can click on this link and see the picture: https://sites.google.com/site/hubcapsite1/fcr2016/randy.jpgBut if you want to make a post here with this picture embedded in the post (not as a URL but as a picture), you must surround the above link with image tags: Easy, once you have a good place to post your pictures. Google sites is free, and everyone with a gmail account has access to google sites. I like it. -Mike

I just made a test classic site and migrated it to a "new" site. It causes all the pictures to get crammed into a google drive cloud thing and urls that formerly led to pictures, such as the ones I've posted here, no longer work ... I'm addicted to meaningful URLs... guess what's here before you click: https://sites.google.com/site/hubcapsite11/new_shed/black_bike_in_shed.jpgNow guess what's here (selected from someone's else post): https://i.postimg.cc/tCvfQhhm/image.pngI've got a year to find a new place to host pictures. -Mike

You're making it too involved, just go to https://postimages.org/ and set up a free account. Then upload from you computer whatever you want, can even set up separate files for different categories. Once loaded to Postimages.org, three clicks and it's on your post. No copy/paste, the site does it for you.

That's pretty cool... is there any way for it to be in the bighead directory, instead of the z2SZvBw directory? How about the bighead/bighead-subdir1 directory? I like meaningful URLs so much, I might be willing to pay for a linux VM somewhere, buy a domain name, and run my own webserver if that's what it takes. -Mike

All the pictures on the board turned into placeholders or some cute broken_url picture... That has happened to me more than once and BLIP all my pictures in all my posts were gone. But since I moved on to some other place where I could have meaningful URL names, I ended up moving my pictures, arranging them the same way at the new place and I fixed my posts that I wished still worked with an easy global replace kind of edit thing. If I had to change every picture from ^yU&88**9$rRRR3#2@4$ to k(8&6%4##dFFFdeadbeef those 17,000 people who read my "1500 gold wing final drive" post would have to suck eggs ;-) ... That's one example, but really... I just like to have meaningful names... imagine clicking on "my computer" on your windows box and... -Mike

I recall writing it but it's got to be at least 3 yrs. old. As for the computer gobbledygook, I don't recall ever having just the link as you show being what shows up on my posts. To my knowledge it's always shown a picture since used Postimages. Example: Making my own lead plug on the end of a shortened cable. The end product on the left. The tool. So where's the "gobbledygook?"

I seem to be in the minority here, but I am a big fan of SmugMug, and yes its a pay site. There is lots of great features and no ads interrupting anything while you work. I probably have at least 2500 photos on there, including my entire download of photobucket.... Roughly $69.95 a year, but its worth it.

John... when you were typing in your post, the thing that postimage did for you when you told it you wanted to post those pictures is insert these links: I clicked on the "quote" button to see your post in text form. You can click on the quote button now to see the text form of my post and the URL (Internet file location) of my picture (wheres_the_goo.jpg) above. We can all see all the posts stored on the VRCC site, so I got your other post by just dredging up some random post of yours that had a picture in it and then I pressed "quote" to see it in the raw. Nothing on the Internet is "free": I can see that everyone who views your (everyones?) postimage picture gets "tracked" by googleads.g.doubleclick.net, adservice.google.com and partner.googleadservices.com. Mello Dude's smugmug picture is stored on the Internet here: https://photos.smugmug.com/Wrenching-it/i-dTm3Hgn/0/f0ea63b9/4K/20180609_155415%5B1%5D-4K.jpgMello Dude pays for his hosting and I guess one thing he gets out of it is good Internet hygiene... there's no trackers associated with his picture. And I guess he made up the name "Wrenching-it" but not i-dTm3Hgn/0/f0ea63b9 or any of that other stuff... I wonder if a smugmug user could specify all the parts after "Wrenching-it" - I'd pay for that. All these "no cost" image hosting sites work, and I'm not paranoid about being tracked... we're all being tracked... people who don't want to be tracked need not use the Internet or cell phones (and maybe not credit cards :-) ) ... but I do want to organize my online images in a way that is meaningful to me, that's how I've always done it. -Mike

Mike - I understand your insistence, there are several things I'll do a ton of work and/or spend money on that I don't really need to just because I like it that way (Like paying for professional class Internet to the house with multiple static IPs so I can run my own servers for instance.) but I guess I don't mind the URLs for images I post being only machine readable because, to me, that's what they're meant to be, read by the machine, processed, and the end user just sees the pretty picture.
Another option for you other than buying a full colo'ed Linux VM would be pay for an unlimited shared host that you could put all your pics on that way, just how you like 'em? Those are dirt cheap these days it looks like...

Hi "Wrenching it" is just one folder out of about 75ish other folders (galleries) which I have named each for the topic of the photos I upload in that gallery. Need a new gallery? Ok, then name a new one, say (dragon trip) and upload away. I have a gallery for each parts or work...... -forks/pair valve/rear spline/rear brake/wheel chrome/.....etc... It's a good way to keep everything organized. Then also you can review as a gallery list or larger thumbnails. If you name a photo/gallery, there's a search feature..,.Put a photo in a wrong gallery? Ok, then just drag it to the right one. And definitely I'm paying for the security of site. My work is mine alone, no tracking or ad interferences....(The free sites want your data!) Ok, I'm addicted..... too many great features, I'll never give it up. Cheers
