Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« on: October 21, 2009, 10:03:25 AM »

Got one of these on my ride. Came with the bike when I got it.
Got a friend who is looking for the same braided radiator hose but can't find it, nor can I.
Looking for the lower hose.
I know Rattlebars used to make a kit and I believe that is what is on my bike but they don't make the kit anymore.

Any alternatives out there?

Thanks
Mike

I had a Rattlebars cover on mine from way back.  Miles and years took it's toll, so I replaced it wit a 'kit' I picked up at AutoZone.  Kit comes with different sizes and lengths, for car applications.  Whole kit cost about $25 - $30, and you will end up left overs.

JC Whitney use to sell a chrome FLEX hose and kit. I had put it on my last Valk I had. Not the same as the braided one but still looks good. Don't know if they still sell it or not. I have the braided one on mine but it came with the bike so I don't know where it came from.

There was a braided (stainless, I think, not chrome) hose on my bike when I got it - it was kind of ratty, and the ends
were just plastic covers that concealed (poorly) the hose clamps...

HDL still has the Big Bike Parts hoses listed:

Back in 2001 when I bought my first Valkyrie, ( just exactly like this one same color same year) I purchased SS slinky like cover. Made just like the black one that comes stock on them from Honda. Unfortunatly I have not been able to find another one. Kind of like the driving lights I bought at the 2001 Honda Homecoming that were mounted using the original turn signal brackets. Never have found another set of those either.

What a bummer, both were very nice..

I think you can get the stainless slinky as an OEM part from Honda... just order an Interstate
slinky, and it will be stainless...

I tried ordering one of these a few months back and never got a response.  I did not know if Ecke spoke English, so I wrote to him in German.  Since my German is not that good, I am unsure if he no longer makes them....or if he is still scratching his head wondering why I want to have sex with his cat.....

The "HDL" looks the best, but it's a P.O.S.! I junked mine. This thing needs to be sleeved together at either end. (four connections= four opportunities to leak) Some run it and like it uglystupid2 Mine actually blew off twice. Got it as clean as possible, no traces of that slippery anti-freeze left before I reconnected. I was letting it run in the drive after re-installing and Burping it. Blew off again, that piece of chit came off so fast your head would spin, right in the trash where it belongs!

Now if your interested in a piece of quality work, I have one of "Ecke's" brand new never installed from Germany. (Send me a p.m.)
I just run a stock black hose with a black slinky, don't look too bad on a black Valk. This way I can inspect the hose for damage and I believe it will dissipate heat MUCH easier without it. They are a pain in the arse to keep clean too, I already spend way too much time in that department.
Jim L...I had a small problem with communication with him also, no worries, he's got a nice cat cooldude

I'm with you. I replaced the braided one that was on my bike with OEM...
