Hi gang,
I am back from my trip and have begun writing a day by day trip report of my adventure on a local flyfishing board. It was truly a trip of a lifetime that met and exceeded my every expectation.
It is a long read but was an equally long journey. There are lots of pictures in an attempt to keep your attention.
Spoiler alert...I have my 1st ever git off at speed (60mph) 1,600 miles from home. Walk it off and with bungie cords and duct tape, drive her home. Red Green would have been proud.  Smiley

Karen,
I can say without a doubt that this will be one BMW that will be used to it full potential and for it's intended purpose. It has not seen a Starbucks yet.  coolsmiley

It is no Valkyrie but I have to say after 4,500 miles in 10 days, I am rightfully impressed...those Germans make a fine machine.  cooldude

I still need to finish the ride home from Manic Cinq. The adventure is not done yet, lol. The next chapter restores my faith in the people of Quebec.
A couple more installments and I should be safely at the Maine border in Corbin Gore.

Terry,
Nope this was a solo practice run to see what works and what doesn't and to see if I was up to the task.

Plan is to do Alaska next year with the 12yr old grandson on back.

So glad I did it but I would not do it again on 2 wheels, motorcycles honestly have no place on that road.

Family asked if I was still thinking of doing Alaska after the little get off. I said, of course...I knew what I was getting into on this adventure. There are numerous accidents on the Translabrador with up to 8 motorcyclist deaths a year.

There was a reason I bought the Inreach device and both Search and Rescue along with Lifeflight insurance.

Every riders trip is different literally day by day or week by week dependant on the weather, construction and road condition.  It is a tough road to read and the graders can really affect that.  It requires your full attention all the time and can be unforgiving.

Alaska will be challenging in other ways for sure but the road conditions will not be as extreme.  The only concern I have is that I now know how much work is involved packing, unpacking, setting up camp and trying to keep things organized.

I also anticipate that with him, I will need to slow down and smell the roses more while making him endure a few high mileage days to make time.

He will either love it or hate it and likely either love or hate me before we're done, 5 weeks in the saddle will be a long time for us both.  Grin

My plan for the next trip is 2 days camping 3rd night in a hotel but as I learned on this trip, weather, bugs and overall mood can affect that plan.

The BMW will be loved tenderly.  cooldude
