It appears that I have some missing hardware near the plates that mount the passenger pegs.  It looks like I'm missing a threaded fastener on both sides...there is a threaded hole that is starting to rust.  Any idea what (if anything) should be installed there?

Thanks!

You want to hook up to an OEM parts supplier, and learn to use the Valk parts fish for your model.

My 2001 Standard has the same hole (at least on the left side). That hole has never been used on my bike.

What works well on rusty bolt bosses is gun cleaning solvent and one of your old brass brushes.  When clean, stick a greased bolt in it.

Pete, as Hook said, it's for mounting bags on Interstates and Tourers. Standards came with just the empty bolt hole like you have. You can clean up the rust and put in a chrome bolt to match the others. It's not necessary to get an OEM one, you can get one from Ace Hardware.

I did the same on my 1-up tourer.  Just make sure whatever you put in there clears the swingarm. Smiley

Yes,just install a metric bolt.I use grease whenever I remove a fastener.Just did a dark side today, moly paste where required, and small quantity of grease on every bare thread.
