the tire only has a few thousand miles on it. the screw was in the center in the deep part of the thread. had a flat put a temp string plug in. ok didn't hold air overnight. so i put a inside plug (patch) on. ok had the tire remounted still had a very little bubbles coming out. so i decided to replace the patch i put on. i sanded down smooth. new one on now put back on, still small bubble, took off rim again. here is the funny thing is still leaks bubbles with the tire is off the rim. first i thought i broke a belt but not with a small wood screw. i called avon, they told me that it came apart and is holding air in between the belts and rubber. there responce replace a brand new tire but said not to worry to much about the air leak it might stop on it's own.  this is the second tire from avon that the belt broke.  it kinda felt like bigger bubbles on inside holding air. they won't warranty the tire, buy new. what to do......... run it a while to see. what about a patch plug. i really think i am just xxucked, really time to consider a E_3 again lops

 Buy a new Cobra, any bike tire regardless of who makes it should be replaced when something sharp pierces the belt.
Patches and plugs are band aids to get you home, and yes I know some guys patch/ plug and get thousands of more miles, but this don't make it right.
Lose a patch/plug on a corner or at 75mph on a front tire and you will need a fast favor from the man upstairs.

You've had 2 Avons break their belts?   Unlike pvan, you couldn't get me to put another Avon on.  Even if he paid for it.  I would find another brand.  I wouldn't trust them again.

I love Avons (on the front). You will hear horror stories about every tire brand out there. This sounds like the cause was roadhazard? That can happen to any brand. The Avon Venoms had some problems which were allegedly taken care of when the Cobra's came out.
  I have heard more complaints about the E-3 than all others combined. I can't validate that, I never ran them and won't.  My buddies run them and run them hard and love them

this is a rear tire.  this a warranty replacement tire they sent me when the first one de-laminated. i am thinking the tire i have now was one of the same lot. so tell me a 1.25 wood screw would cause bubbles in the tire that would be a first. bubbles coming out after i removed the tire from the rim. my thought is the tire was already defective and the screw aloud air to form inside the tire. i plugged patched multiple tires never had bubbles to form or air get inside the tire. this is the same as when donlops early on delaminated and caused bubbles in tire. mine was one that happened to on my 1997 old timers here would remember. not sure on how to talk to avon again. i think the tire was defective before the screw..... what about the dark side tires do they form bubbles after a screw. i know just replace the tire new but at 220 + 30 mounting so anybody have 250 i can have or do i find a way to fix this problem

You can park the bike and admire it or you can replace the tire and ride it. 

All tires have had issues at some point or another, and as someone indicated above I think Dunlop E3's had more. I know I had issues with Dunlops but none yet with Avon Venoms.  I had a rear blow out on an Avon Venom with lots of good tread left after a few thousand miles and I replaced it.  When you are only riding on 2 tires, it kinda makes sense to have 2 good tires.  The construction and dynamics of a motorcycle tire probably cause issues in themselves, no need to induce more issues with a repaired plugged or patched area in a tire.  You could always go dark side (car tire) but even those tires can have their own issues.

As for the cost of replacement.....   I got a Harbor Freight tire changer and price shop tires for the best deal.

I would patch a tire and ride on it without question as long as the puncture is small and in the tread and not the sidewall.  I would NOT ride on it if it has bubbles or a broken belt.
