Hey all,

I have a 99 IS and have a leaking front forks.  Decided to overhaul and install progressive springs while I'm at it.

I can not for the life of me break the seal on the top fork cap bolt.  I've loosened the top allen bolt and made sure there's no pressure on the cylinder.  Have tried everything, but these things will not budge!

Any suggestions?

All I can suggest is a longer handle on the wrench like a breaker bar. Maybe hit it with the heat gun some.

24" breaker bar or air impact wrench.  Either one will probably mark the hex nut.

Had that happen once, using the breaker bar on a socket wrench stripped the nut edges. tickedoff

Ended up using a chisel and hammer and bought a new cap nut.

They ain't cheap neither Angry

Well, got it off. Whuttabitch.  Eventually resorted to pipe wrench and buying two new nuts. Either these are original installs or the previous guy hammered it down.

Rebuild went seamless once the caps were loose.

Thanks for the advice!!

Many "pros" use an air wrench to install stuff. I had to use my air wrench to remove one. Most come off after loosening the top pinch bolt.
