use the new DOT4 LV  The low viscosity provides a more consistent brake action over a wider ambient temperature range
I use http://www.pentosin.net/f_brakefluid.asp  readily avail at Advance Auto. Pentosin also comes in metal cans reducing the amount of moisture absorbed. testing has show the plastic bottles allow air moisture right into the brake fluid through the plastic.
Has a Wet Boiling Point > 170°C (>338°F) which is more than DOT4.  This should allow a 3-5 yr replacement interval vice the current 2-3 yrs for DOT4 which usually has a Wet boiling of 311F.

Sometimes a minute amount of air gets in near the master cylinder. just loosening the banjo bolt by the master cylinder and bleeding a little fluid out, then quickly resealing the bolt before releasing the brake lever with purge that air and firm up the brake lever nicely. This is a common problem on Gold wings, so I suppose it could carry over to the Valks. Might be worth a try before going into more drastic measures.
