Well it was a process my friend looked at a few bikes and was price shopping at first with used bikes. But as he went he found out what a good deal and great ride our bikes are. So although he was considering a used bike couldn't find what he was looking for at the right price so he bought a 14 Valkyrie. He bought it in N Florida and rode it home on the worst day of rain and weather but it did as well as could be expected without a windshield. So I ordered that and the rear luggage rack arms and express shipped them in and mounted them on Saturday. This is just as we were about to leave after getting them installed. He is going to head up to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a trip so he needed the bike asap. Nothing like waiting for the last minute to get the bike and get things done. He bought a set of throw over saddle bags and protected the fenders with carbon stick on and he is set to go. He has a luggage rack off his old bike and is going to take along a back pack. I adjusted the suspension, checked all the levels and to make sure hes ok.

Kind of a funny side note, he says to me your rims are shiny and I said yes, I clean and wax them. I looked again at the bike and it was clean enough it didn't click at the time why the rims were dirty and the bike was clean. But since he went through torrential rains on the way home from buying the bike hes never seen it really clean and polished.

I think that is one thing I really like about these bikes they always look good and can take going through the elements and still look clean. I also dont worry about him on a new bike on a trip or shake down run as our bikes are so reliable that I dont think there will be a problem. I dont know to many bikes I would feel comfortable with straight off the showroom floor going on a trip.

Asked him how he liked the bike and he said outstanding.  cooldude

In time he will get the seat and the Corbin bags but for the trip its just like the old school get the bike, luggage and outfit it for the trip and off you go.

Black is the worst for going through rain. I've been a through rainstorms here in CO and I finally gave up on trying to keep it clean and ride. It will be time to give her a final season bath soon, but it is so annoying how the black looks with the lightest bit of dust or dirt.

Its a good thing dirt doesn't change how it rides!

Robert, I'm glad you didn't suffer from the hurricanes.  cooldude

Still, I bought my BMW R1100R, then my BMW K1200 R, then my K1200 GT, then my GSX-R 1000, then my R1200 GS 2013 in Germany (Bayern) and came home under pouring rain (it's a plot from the french dealers I guess) and it was fine (driving like mad through the german highways - often speed free as you know). I would not recommend to drive that fast with a brand new Valk in such a bad weather because the OEM tyres suck and the Valk is not secure or easy in wet twisties  Embarrassed

I like the look of those throw over bags. Do you know the manufacturer?
