Was, as usual, underwhelmed. Aside from sounding cool, and being somewhat comfortable, the bike severely lacked. Brakes, suspension, transmission, power utterly paled in comparison to the Valkyrie, not even close. I simply cannot believe someone would pay 22+K for such a ride. Oh, it also made all kinds of weird noises not instilling any confidence in reliability. A comparable ride would be the F6B...and those two bikes do not share the same infinite universe. HD, not getting what you pay for.

I must test ride the new 114 Fatbob which is said to be the nearest european bike HD has ever done though the french newspapers say that there's little difference between 107 and 114 ???

There really isn't. Just more displacement. This is the best they can do? Displacement and compression are ways of producing more power. Problem is it comes with a price of greater weight, cost AND reliability penalties. They got a great engine in the Vrod platform, problem is your typical HD fan does not get it, much less understand the advantages of such an engine. Pathetic really.

Harleys have always been underpowered and overpriced. But their fans are very loyal. I have ridden a couple Harleys, not impressed whatsoever. But each to his own.

The thing that frustrates me the most is the "extensive" aftermarket "performance" parts Why should a customer have to pay THOUSANDS of extra dollars to get all the "modern" technologies that should come standard? Can you imagine is a car company did the same thing!?!?! Walk into a dodge dealer and get a new charger with a carbed 318 as the base model, with drum brakes and cassette deck LOL!!!! Can you hear the dealer "well, it's good old reliable technology, but we have a stage 9876497 kit that gives you a v6 with more power and better features!!!! It's only 30% more expensive LOL!!!! And they get away with this crap every day!!!!

You hit the nail on the head. I couldn't wait to get rid of my last HD purchase (RoadKing) and traded it for another Honda. The 18' s look to be improvement but not enough for me to ever buy another one.

I was at a gas station, that I frequent, last Friday and I saw a guy with a HD jacket on. I asked him if he put his bike away yet. He told me that he didn't have it out this year because he blew the engine. I asked him what bike he has and he said a 2010 Road King. I said that it was a pretty new bike to have to do the engine. He then said that he did have almost 40,000 kms (25000 miles) on it, so it was due to be rebuilt anyways. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to start an argument, but I would be supremely pissed if that happened to a bike I owned. He then went on to say that when he rebuilds the engine, this winter, it will have 145hp. I almost told him that he would never get that out of his engine and that he was probably better to put a S&S engine in the thing. I decided to not say anything and just nod and say farewell.

I’ll chime in here, let’s just say that you want a second or fifth bike and you wanted a blapper (V-Twinn) as a simple fun around town bike. Spend tons of money on a bike and go through what Brian’s HD guy did? When there are deals like the below out there? The following link is an excellent example of a bike for sale locally. If the ad disappears I will decribe it first. It is a 1999 Yamaha Roadstar for $3500 with 2250 miles and look at the last pic of the goodies it comes with. And what is worse it is over blue book. https://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/mcy/d/yamaha-xv1600-best-on--only/6339733411.html

Any trips our way planned? Anyway, agreed. That is why we have VALKS for the need to twist and something actually happens.
