I know the selection is limited for our 1800 Valkyries, and most are likely mixing tire brands.  Not like it hasn't been done before.

Has anyone used the Shinko  016 Verge 2X (Dual Compound) tires on the rear?

Did anyone yet compile a complete list of tires available?

Thanks,

I have never heard anything good about Stinkos.  Pay a little more and get a good tire.  The ones that my cousin put on his Victory Cross Country only lasted 8000kms(5000miles).

Currently, I have the Dunlop RoadSmart II Sport Touring tire on the back and an Avon AV71 on the front.  I was skeptical on the Dunlop, but it gets pretty good reviews.  A lot of GT1600 riders use them.  If they can hold up to that amount of HP then they should be good for our bikes.  I picked up mine for $100 on eBay in August and it has been pretty good so far.  Really good on the wet roads and the tar snakes.

I have a Shinko on the front of my IS now and have been very satisfied with it, still going strong.  I also have one on a spare rear wheel for my IS....but the Austone Taxi Tire is holding out very well.

I would be willing to try the tire for the 14 Valk, since it is dual compound and appears to have good reviews.    I have an OEM rear tire on with about 9800 miles so far and that has worn and done well also.

Just checking other options....  and if maybe someone had prepared a listing or spreadsheet of tires our size etc.

I was looking up reviews for your rear tire (I have the same front I believe) and came up with the newer model RoadSmart III....  with pretty good info.   Be interested in seeing some with actual miles on it, rather than projected.

OEM for 8k (back tire slippery as hell in the rain - front followed the groves in road - hated both).   Michelin Pilot Road for 8k.   Liked um, but also like trying new stuff.     Read good reviews for Metzeler Roadtec 01.   Metzeler had a 'buy two get $40 gift card" deal going, so took the plunge.   The rear tire is awesome.   My favorite rear tire so far.   Bought their "HWM" version, made for heavy bikes.  The front tire is not holding up well at all.   They don't sell front in "HWM" version in 19" rim.  Front is moaning/groaning in turns now, and starting to re-form.   Blue beast is way too heavy for it.
Probably replace with another Pilot Road, unless I read about something better.

Well,  I have had the opposite response.  I have been running shinkos for three years on the magna and my cousin has been running them on his 82CB900C for two years.  The 777's are SUPER STICKY!!! I have pushed maggy well past the point of sanity and the dunnies' would have left me laying on the road!  Yoko made great tires, so there is no reason Shinko shouldn't also.

I picked my 14 up this year with 7800 on the clock and a new/er tire on the front (Avon).  The rear has OEM and now with 9800 miles and still a little life, but coming due for replacement.    8k for the Road Pilot isn't impressive at all.  Was it the Road Pilot 4 GT or what?  I am considering the Road Pilot 4 GT as a possible replacement as well.
