Out with the old...in with the wooohoooo!!!!

I have been throwing around the idea of painting my bike.  I really like the paint scheme on the Kawasaki Vaquero and I am thinking of doing a similar paint scheme to my bike.  Namely, the one that has the Candy Lime green on top and the black on the bottom.  I would like to see it on a picture of my bike before I try it.

I was thinking of doing the green on a slight diagonal.  From the top of the red marker light, on the back, to the tip of the front radiator pod.  So, the saddlebags and radiator pods would be about half black and half green.  I would put a silver, or chrome pinstripe between the two colours.

That means that the tank, side covers and rear fender would be green.  I would leave the gas tank bezel, meter cover, headlight cover and around the headlight black, as well as the front fender and forks.

You could use the picture in my signature for the mock-up.

It would be muchly appreciated and if we ever meat up then diner would be on me.   :cool dude:

If you are having the bike custom painted, not doing it yourself, take a picture of what you want to the shop and ask for ideas/mockups along those lines.  A modern custom shop ought to be able to do this, I would think.

I use Gimp (free) for making logos, etc.  But I am a novice and there is a learning curve to using the program.  The price is right if you have time to play around with it.

This would be fairly easy for one in the know to do.

Recently , I thought of buying a first gen Kerry ( Valk)   and bob it out using patina copper  on both fenders , gas tank and side covers and where  ever else I can , blacking out everything else  as much as possible

Using this kind of copper

Maybe a custom paint shop could  replicate  the patina

Funny that you say that.  I did do a mock up using Gimp.  I was not liking my paint scheme.  I think I will redo my idea.  I think that I will have to leave about a 1/4 of the tank black and follow that line down to the side covers on a curved line.  The saddlebags will be half and half, but have the paint line in an arc instead of straight.

I was thinking of doing this myself, since a paint job like that would probably be $2000 - $3000.

What color you are thinking of using ?

Candy Lime Green.

The same colour on the 2012 Kawasaki Vaquero.  Pretty much the same colour scheme too.
