Tucson - Its a dry heat

« on: December 02, 2017, 09:06:30 AM »

Getting ready to do a 1000 mile Fly-n-Ride, and am wondering how effective the PO's Windscreen might be.  It came with the bike when he bought it, but he has seldom ridden the bike, and never installed the Windscreen.

I've got a little time if there is a mod or something to add to this to make it function better - before I leave to pick it up.

I have done a little searching - it kind of looks like a Slimstream - but the pics of the Slipstream appear to have the sides straighter than these pics indicate.

TIA.

You are correct, it is a Slipstreamer B Wing 18 inch with MRA universal mounting hardware attached. This combo is very effective for not having a huge frontal area and almost dissapears due to the 2 point mount system attaching low on the bars.  For best astetics, cut the mounting rods to correct length after mounting and marking how much is actually needed, then remove, cut the rods, and re attach to the bike. The windshield can be purchased from Slipstreamer without its original mounting bracket for under $60.00, and MRA universal mount kit for 1 inch bars cost $40.00 on Revzilla and other online outfits. How bout that, a slick, effective, good looking windshield for under $100.00 bucks all in!!!  The windshield is pre drilled with holes for its mounting bracket, but use the bottom 2 holes for MRA mounts, then drill 2 new ones above the original Slipstreamer holes for your other 2 MRA mounting bolts. The plastic cover for the bolts will cover the unused Slipstreamer holes.  This combo takes a couple of adjustments to get the angle and tightness you need, seems to loosen the first couple tries, but once you get the tightness to settle in the mounts and adjusting points, your good to go!!!

Thanks mikesgotgoods,
Good to know this works well.
This pic I found online (with the sides of the top appearing straighter) is why I did not think it was a Slipstreamer - guess the angle of the pics the seller has just skews things a bit:

I have a hard days ride once I pic up next week - and a lot of West TX is 85 MPH, and temps are dropping.  Would sure like to get this attached firmly and not have to putz with it underway.

If you could kindly post a pic of your mounted it would be appreciated.
Thanks again!
