I'm meeting my sons in Salt Lake City in July for a 1-week ride thru the mountains.  We'll head from SLC to Jackson to Yosemite to Cooke City to Red Lodge.  Looking for ideas from there to take me west thru MT then south thru Idaho and back to SLC.  I prefer to avoid the highways and take scenic routes.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hwy 12 (Lewis and Clark Route) is a great ride. Straight north from Red Lodge to Hwy 12 and turn left. Hwy 12 will take you across Lolo Pass, a really good ride through Idaho.
cheers,
paul

Hwy 212 and 87 to Roundup,
Hwy 12 and 90 to Missoula,
Hwy 12 through Lolo Pass to Kooskia,
South on Hwy 13, 95 and 55 to Bosie,
North on Hwy 21 to Stanley,
South on Hwy 75 and 93 to Wells,
East on Hwy 80 into SLC

I've been on all these routes and they are all good riding.
