Title: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: Motorider on July 05, 2018, 09:48:09 AM I was going to replace my stock headlight bulbs with Super Bright bulbs. Super Bright service tech said if I have a mechanical headlight relay, I will need a load resistor kit. If the headlight relay is electronic I will NOT need the resistor kit. Does anyone know if the relay is mechanical or electronic? I am open to suggestions for any other plug and play LED headlight upgrade. I don`t want to rebuild the headlight housing or do a lot of rewiring.

Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: Motorider on July 05, 2018, 11:03:46 AM I already searched "LED headlight Interstate" on this forum, and "2000 Honda Valkyrie Interstate LED headlight" on the world wide web. I found no helpful information on either search. Except a link to Super Bright LED`s, I contacted them, thus the reason for my original question. So I figured I would reach out for help with a new thread.
Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: The emperor has no clothes on July 05, 2018, 11:27:37 AM I’m definitely no expert on wiring and electronics. But I think our relays are what would be considered mechanical.
Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: Valkorado on July 05, 2018, 11:47:31 AM Replaced mine with LED bulbs, no resistors needed. If you also plan to replace your blinkers with LED bulbs, you'll need either resistors or even better replace your OEM flasher with a LED flasher.

And was it worth the trouble? Is definitely worth it, (daylight at night) but bulb choice is very important. There was a recent post on the subject, I'll see if I can find it. One last question for you. Do you still have both high and low beams. I just watched a You Tube video where the guy said he only had high beams after replacing his bulbs. Probably not the same bulbs you suggested, but I want to be sure before I purchase.

Do you still have both high and low beams. I just watched a You Tube video where the guy said he only had high beams after replacing his bulbs. Probably not the same bulbs you suggested, but I want to be sure before I purchase. Yup. The lo beams are amazing, the hi beams are indescribably bright. You'll want to hold your halogens up to these (if and) when you get them. It is then fairly obvious how to align the bulbs, pretty much straight up and down. There are alignment tic marks that show you where straight up is. You will not regret the upgrade. Here is another vendor. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Philips-G7-H4-HB2-9003-8000lm-LED-Headlight-Hi-Lo-Beam-Conversion-Kit-Bulbs/323209255650?epid=7003967324&hash=item4b40c5dae2:g:blQAAOSwvjdZU0ih (https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Philips-G7-H4-HB2-9003-8000lm-LED-Headlight-Hi-Lo-Beam-Conversion-Kit-Bulbs/323209255650?epid=7003967324&hash=item4b40c5dae2:g:blQAAOSwvjdZU0ih) Just found a better deal here. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F202357583089 (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F202357583089) You want to make sure you purchase the adjustable bulbs. Check the sixth picture, it shows how to adjust and install. It's pretty simple, turn the handlebars, put your cheek flush to the tank and use a headlamp to see what you're doing. If I run into any problems during installation, is it Okay to PM you? Thanks again for your help.

If you've never changed any m/c headlight bulb you might familiarize yourself with that spring clip - - push down and counterclockwise to release the old bulb, down and clockwise to install the new. :cooldude: Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: CleoBen on July 05, 2018, 06:50:01 PM Yup. Valkorado, how can you tell if they are adjustable or not? The link with the better deal doesn't seem to mention adjustable or not. Also the adjustable (actually reversible) heatsinks that are installed outside the IS dust covers. Here's one.

Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: Valkorado on July 06, 2018, 03:43:05 AM Does it adjust the light pattern, or the fitment? Adjusts the beam angle so it lies straight across the reflector and also to match the angle on both bulbs.Title: Re: LED headlight question, 2000 Interstate Post by: Ramie on July 07, 2018, 06:23:39 AM Still waiting for Steel Cowboy to post details on how he did this.
